About the role

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you'll do

Build enterprise cloud infrastructure that provides European data sovereignty and hyperscaler-grade capabilities. You'll work on SAP Cloud Infrastructure, solving complex distributed systems challenges at scale: multi-region networking, container orchestration, observability, and the APIs that connect them.

You will contribute to building a sovereign, privacy-first AI cloud for the European market that makes it easyto securely train, fine-tune, and deploy foundation and domain models with strict data residency and isolation.

You'll develop solutions using Go, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies, tackling problems like: How do you autoscale thousands of workloads across clusters? How do you build resilient control planes and service meshes? How do you design APIs that handle massive traffic spikes?

Your work will power SAP's production systems and thousands of customer environments. You'll contribute to infrastructure that enables organizations to run mission-critical applications with the performance and reliability they expect from leading cloud platforms.

In your role as Developer, you'll contribute to building SAP Cloud Infrastructure through hands-on development of enterprise cloud services that provide European data sovereignty and hyperscaler-grade capabilities. You'll implement features and components for distributed systems that handle significant scale, working on Kubernetes orchestration, networking, and storage solutions that power customer environments.

You'll develop and maintain cloud-native infrastructure components using Go, Kubernetes, and related CNCF technologies, solving practical challenges in multi-region deployments, API development, and system integration. Your work will involve implementing features for auto-scaling clusters, building resilient workloads, and creating APIs that handle substantial traffic loads.

Contributing to production systems that serve SAP's customer base, you'll help build infrastructure that enables organizations to run mission-critical applications with enterprise-grade performance and reliability.

Your code will support European organizations in maintaining data sovereignty while accessing powerful cloud capabilities that compete with leading cloud platforms.

What you'll bring

  • Programming Mastery: Practical experience in Go, with a solid understanding of concurrent programming, APIs, and distributed systems design.
  • Kubernetes Expertise: Hands-on experience operating and developing for Kubernetes in production (cluster management, workload orchestration, debugging distributed applications); CKA/CKAD/CKS and experience building Kubernetes operators/controllers are strong pluses.
  • Observability & Logging Stack: Hands-on experience with Open Search (cluster operations, index management, ingestion pipelines) and the Open Telemetry Collector (pipelines, processors, exporters); familiarity with log-based observability patterns at scale.
  • Advanced Development Practices: Working knowledge of Git workflows, end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, and extensive experience with test-driven development and code reviews.
  • Open-Source Contribution: Strong enthusiasm for contributing to open-source projects; prior contributions to CNCF or observability-related projects are a strong plus.
  • Security and Compliance: Awareness of industry standards related to security and compliance (e.g., PCI DSS, data residency requirements) and experience integrating regulatory requirements into architectural patterns.
  • Growth Mindset: 0–3 years of software development experience, with proven adaptability and a strong focus on continuous learning, especially in distributed systems and observability.
  • Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication abilities and experience working in agile development teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and mentorship across distributed, multinational teams.
  • Soft Skills: Structured and reliable working style, attention to detail, proactive and self-driven, high level of commitment, comfortable in a fast-changing environment, and enjoys working in a diverse international team.
