The Platform Engineering group is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer, Infrastructure Platform Architect to ensure the successful delivery of enterprise Infrastructure for one of our premier programs. The role's core responsibility revolves around architecting an infrastructure platform that is consistent, scalable, efficient, and reduces overall program deployment times. You will be on a team that is responsible for development and operational environments consisting of a mix of servers, workstations, storage, networks, and custom hardware. These environments provide the enterprise backbone for product development and testing for a large program.

You will operate at the intersection of product, platform, and users — translating developer needs into usable platform capabilities. The role requires strong frontend engineering instincts, backed by solid backend infrastructure knowledge.

What You Will Do

  • You will leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to architect, develop and implement modern platform solutions

  • Collaborate cross-functionally, building, and refining solutions that align with tech standards, timelines, and budgets

  • Investigate and present technology solutions to improve performance

  • Design and implement automation and orchestration solutions

  • Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement of existing solutions

  • Work with engineering teams to translate operational and technical requirements into implementable system architectures and solution designs

  • Act as the technical liaison between program leadership, engineering, Digital Technology (DT) and Global Security Services (GSS) Cybersecurity, ensuring technical vision, priorities, deliverables and integration requirements are clearly communicated and understood

  • Coordinate with DT and GSS Cybersecurity, to ensure delivered components and systems meet performance, reliability, security, and interoperability requirements across platforms and environments

  • Develop and maintain a technical roadmap that keeps the platform aligned with modern Dev Sec Ops practices, infrastructure architectures, and relevant COTS solutions

  • You will use Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and processes to design and develop solutions

  • This job is onsite in Plano, TX; applicants must be in the area or willing to relocate to it.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.

  • Experience Architecting, designing, implementing, and integrating infrastructure platform services on Linux and Windows based Operating Systems

  • Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and/or Chef

  • Experience working in a technical environment interfacing with systems and software engineering disciplines

  • Minimum of eight years’ experience communicating technical and project information clearly and effectively to peers, management, and external stakeholders, including breaking down complex ideas into easy-to-understand tasking.

  • Eight years’ experience or more with multi-disciplines: Compute, Network, Storage, Operating Systems, and Virtualization technologies in an enterprise and/or mission environment

  • Current CompTIA Security+ Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts

  • Experience implementing Scaled Agile Frameworks

  • Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CI/CD Pipelines tools (E.g. Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab)

  • Experience with containerization using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker

  • Experience developing, testing & delivering applications w/in a Dev Sec Ops framework

  • Background in COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration

  • Advanced experience troubleshooting performance, reliability, and availability issues across Linux/Windows based platforms and infrastructure services

  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and/or Bash used for automation and operational workflows
