We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE), responsible for designing, building, and scaling robust data pipelines and data products on Databricks using Py Spark and Python.

In this role, you will contribute to a modern data platform that enables analytics and machine learning use cases across SAP internal stakeholders. You will work with large-scale datasets in a cloud-native environment, ensuring data is reliable, high-quality, and optimized for downstream consumption by ML and analytics teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Databricks using Py Spark

• Build data products that support machine learning, MLOps, and analytics use cases

• Work with data stored in ADLS Gen2 and SAP HANA Data Lake (Delta/Parquet formats)

• Implement and maintain data quality checks (schema validation, deduplication, enrichment, tagging).

• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions

• Contribute to engineering best practices, including version control, CI/CD, testing, and monitoring

What you bring:

• Proficiency in Python

• Hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake)

• Experience with version control systems (e.g. GitHub)

• Experience with CI/CD frameworks (e.g. Github Actions)

• Performance tuning for large-scale datasets

• Knowledge of Datalake technologies

• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken), required for collaboration with international teams

Nice to have:

• At least one other programming/scripting language (e.g. Java, SQL, Scala)

• Experience with data governance and cataloging in Azure ecosystem (Unity Catalog)
