About BBN Technologies

For over 70 years, RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) has solved challenging problems through research, exploration, development, and prototyping. BBN's Network & Cyber Technologies (NCT) team leverages computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, and physics to tackle customer challenges in electromagnetic warfare (EW), communications, cybersecurity, cyberspace operations, networking, and RF domains for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers.

BBN is looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated scientists, engineers, and developers who want to create, contribute to, and grow cutting-edge research projects for offensive and defensive cyber and EW operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop next-generation cyber and EW capabilities
  • Create or investigate new types of cyber physical systems
  • Develop exploits, implants, payloads, and communication stacks based on extensive reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and software development
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems and deliver actionable results
  • Operationalize software through extensive testing, documentation, and integration with other systems
  • Participate in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze data, test new capabilities, and perform demonstrations
  • Overnight travel required for certain projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics with 5+ years of experience OR an Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience
  • Solid, creative programming skills using one or more of: C/C++ or Python
  • Experience with some assembly language (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.)
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, wire-level protocols, BGP, RF communications, etc.)
  • Active Top Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Capture the Flag (CTF) experience
  • OS kernel development experience (e.g., Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android)
  • Network programming skills
  • Hardware emulation experience
  • Working knowledge of RF signal processing and algorithm development
  • Hands on experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership
  • TS/SCI security clearance

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $95,500 USD - $181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Work Locations

This position is Onsite at our Columbia, MD., Cambridge, MA or Arlington, VA office.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance on day one of employment.
