We have an exciting opportunity with our Digital Technology (DT) team for a Digital Technology (DT) Site Lead.

The position will be based onsite at our facilities in Carlsbad, California.What You Will Do:

As a Digital Technology Site Lead, you will play a key role in advancing the manufacturing maturity of Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) turbine components—materials that enable lighter, more efficient, and higher-temperature jet engine performance – at the Center of Excellence (COE) in Carlsbad, California.

Focus will be on managing key Connected Factory applications, supporting robust digital twin and transformation effort, impacting on process stability across site business applications in collaboration with the Industry 4.0 Site Lead. You'll work in managing site digital technology expectations and ensure CMC COE digital operations run smoothly.

The Digital Technology Site Lead will be the main digital point of contact for the Carlsbad, CA facility, responsible for the digital roadmap and IT enablement of the site.

This role also includes managing technical systems, vendor governance, and support project planning and execution of digital solutions implemented locally.

Our site lead will be expected to lead activities related to development, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf applications in accordance with the Purdue model (IT/OT Segmentation), industry standards, and cyber compliance.

This role supports critical business and shop floor systems, including (but not limited to) wired and wireless networking, file and application servers, storage systems, machine tool HMIs, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and metrology inspection systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and deployment of site level digital capabilities in collaboration with the industry 4.0 and enterprise DT teams.

  • Define and execute modernization strategies for legacy manufacturing systems, including platform migration, automation enablement, and software design to improve scalability, maintainability, and cybersecurity standards.

  • Develop, maintain and advance a digital site roadmap.

  • Serve as the primary digital advisor to site leadership, provide strategic updates, risk assessments, investment digital recommendations across PW sites, and performance metrics for site level digital initiatives.

  • Engage with key business leaders to gather, document, and understand requirements.

  • Translate business requirements into a solution design across multiple manufacturing applications and enterprise applications.

  • Lead cross functional alignment of manufacturing applications by establishing digital standards and driving technical decision making in partnership with DT application and domain subject matter experts.

  • Govern site level digital processes, documentation standards, training, and control frameworks to ensure audit readiness, traceability, and compliance with DT and site requirements.

  • Architect and govern shop floor system integration, including HMI, SCADA, inspection technology, and machine connectivity platforms, ensuring secure OT/IT alignment and scalable data integration

  • Monitor application performance; troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical system, computer, and/or application issues.

  • Provide architectural oversight and requirements definition for site infrastructure (servers, networking, segmentation) to ensure alignment with enterprise industrial control system framework.

  • Oversight of site level end user device support in coordination with enterprise service teams.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related degree with 10+ years of experience working in Digital Technology; OR an advanced degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related degree with 7+ years of experience working in Digital Technology.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Technical expertise with industrial networking, secure machine tool integration, VLAN segmentation, and OT/IT architecture design within manufacturing environments.

  • Demonstrated experience in architecting and deploying SCADA/HMI platforms (WinCC, i Fix, AVEVA, Ignition) including system design, security configuration, software development, and data integration.

  • Strong software engineering background with demonstrated experience in designing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and deploying production grade applications in .NET, LabVIEW, C/C++, Jython, and Python within regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Technical experience supporting digital systems in complex development manufacturing or aerospace environments with high compliance and operational reliability requirements.

  • Proven ability to design and govern end-to-end manufacturing system architectures, including data acquisition, inspection systems, SPC, visualization platforms, and enterprise integration layers.

  • Excellent customer service skills required providing a high level of service to satisfy/fulfill internal or external needs accurately in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to work independently with limited direction to accomplish goals and recognize areas for process improvement & formulate actionable plans.

  • Ability to interpret high level business requirements, and liaise between business customers, technology teams and support teams.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, project management, concise writing, communications, and presentation skills highly desired.

  • Must be able to work onsite at the designated location in Carlsbad, CA.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
