About the Role

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to support the Mission Systems Resilient Connectivity Products (RCP) organization at the GETC Puerto Rico location. This role involves contributing to the engineering development and execution of important programs that enable our RCP product lines. In this role you will participate in software engineering activities that design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain software solutions for various communication systems products. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location.

This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate and test communications systems for aircrafts that support multiple ways of connecting the aircraft to the ground and the airlines, which includes enhancing customized Linux OS ecosystem and maintaining ownership over areas such as build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, device drivers, and BSP for a wide variety of hardware boards
  • Work alongside FPGA, hardware, systems and software teams in order to seamlessly embed advanced technology into wide array of communications product portfolio
  • Conduct design, development, integration, implementation, and testing of embedded software in C++, C, Ada and Python on Linux OS for connectivity products
  • Prepare software builds for execution in a simulation environment, reference platforms and on the target hardware
  • Prepare embedded test solutions that support hardware qualification activities
  • Participate in formal run for score and software release activities
  • Participate in root cause investigations for complex issues seen internally and by the customer

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience completing formal DO178 compliant software run-for-score activities and documentation
  • Experience with command line Linux and embedded C/C++
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Software level debugging experience
  • Experience with Database technologies
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Coverity
  • Experience with Bash and Python scripting languages
  • Understanding of Crypto system requirements, design formulation and algorithms
