Position Role Type: Unspecified
About Us
At OMNIA® Training, we've brought together some of the UK's most innovative defence training organisations under one powerful mission: to transform the British Army's training system and create the best-trained Army in the world. OMNIA are redefining the British Army's collective training. To do that, we are looking for the best and brightest minds from across the UK. We are backed by British innovation and powered by world-class experts, like you. OMNIA is at the heart of the UK's bold Land Industrial Strategy.
About the Role
This is more than a job — it's a mission. You will be part of a high-impact, collaborative environment, where we expect everyone to live the values and standards of the British Army. Every person in our team plays a critical role in delivering OMNIA's vision; designing, delivering, and transforming collective training so the British Army is ready to fight and win.
You'll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training Support Branch and functionally through the Raytheon UK Engineering Management team, specifically the Systems Security Engineering Group. Ultimately, you'll work with the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.
The Omnia Information Asset Manager (IAM) role will be responsible for overseeing and managing an organization's information assets — which include data, documents, and other information-based resources; to ensure their security, compliance, accessibility, and overall value. The candidate is expected to be capable of working closely with customer and delivery teams; alone and unsupervised if necessary.
This position is critical to the successful delivery of the Collective Training Transformation Programme (CTTP), ensuring that training is delivered to meet the British Army's needs. This role concentrates on Information Assurance and Cyber Security but does not exclude supporting Physical and Personnel security elements.
Key responsibilities include classifying information, establishing handling rules, and implementing processes to protect data throughout its lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring programme security and information assets are protected through policy, procedural and technical enhancements. You will be comfortable working in a matrix management organisation and will operate under a mixture of Customer and Omnia staff. You will be fluent in the concepts of Secure by Design.
Why This Role Matters
The role of the Information Asset Manager is broad and is crucial for:
- Data Security: Protecting sensitive information from threats and ensuring it's handled appropriately.
- Operational Efficiency: Enabling clear, consistent, and timely access to the right information for decision-making.
- Compliance: Adhering to legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
- Risk Mitigation: Reducing the potential for data loss, misuse, or breaches.
- Value Maximisation: Ensuring the organization fully exploits the value and potential of its information assets.
This role will be based in the Warminster area.
Key Responsibilities
- Classification: Determining the sensitivity and value of information assets.
- Ownership: Ensuring clear ownership and accountability for each asset.
- Handling Rules: Developing and communicating policies for how information should be handled, stored, and used.
- Security: Implementing safeguards to protect data from unauthorized access, loss, or compromise.
- Compliance: Ensuring that the handling of information meets legal and regulatory requirements, such as those under GDPR.
- Lifecycle Management: Overseeing the entire lifecycle of an information asset, from creation to disposal.
- Monitoring: Tracking the use of information assets and ensuring compliance with established policies.
- Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with information, such as data breaches or misinterpretations.
- Supporting the development and management of the Omnia security vision, threat-modelling, security requirements, security standards, reference architectures, security strategies and roadmaps; in order to deliver security assurance across and throughout the life of the programme
- Supporting security assurance of systems or environments
- Capturing, expanding, and analysing security requirements that reflect IAM
- Supporting strong cross-organisational relationships and driving a security-minded culture
- Managing the lifecycle of Information Assets
- Working closely with the other programme services to ensure that IAM is properly embedded
- Staying current with security technologies and making recommendations for use, based on business value
- Supporting oversight of the design, implementation and through-life of systems to ensure appropriate and effective IAM controls are included and maintained.
Who We Are Looking For
We're after individuals who want to serve. You'll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to 'get things done'. You'll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won't let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you'll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won't necessarily have a military background, but you'll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.
