About the IN/SG Payroll Engineering Team at Rippling:
The IN/SG payroll system is on a high growth path, we manage highly complex compliance requirements from the regulatory authorities while we build easy to use and highly scalable payroll solutions for our customers. Our team ensures compliance with local labor laws while integrating with key HR functions like PTO, Benefits, and HRIS.
About the Role:
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join to lead the Rippling’s IN/SG (India/Singapore) Payroll Engineering Team by bringing in vision in collaboration with product and fellow engineers.. This team is responsible for managing the complete IN/SG payroll process, including onboarding, tax calculation, payroll calculations, integration with third party systems for filings, POI handling, generating challans etc. The team collaborates with various cross-organizational functions like HRIS, PTO, Benefits, and Pension, as well as global payroll platform teams. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work on a highly complex and impactful system and grow in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
What You Will Do:
- Own and deliver multi-team, quarterly goals, taking responsibility for project success, and aligning team goals with organizational priorities.
- Convert complex requests into scalable, clean designs and code; serving as a multi-system architecture expert; proficiently debugging, managing on-call/incidents (including acting as Incident Commander and conducting postmortems); continuously focusing on maintainability and quality; and implementing security best practices.
- Contribute to the development of robust and scalable systems supporting IN/SG payroll.
- Write clean, maintainable code, contribute to improving our tech stack and processes, and participate in code reviews and design discussions to continuously learn and improve.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, other teams, and third party system to build and ship product features.
- Building strong stakeholder relationships, acting as a technical liaison, and proactively clarifying requirements.
- Mentor teammates, actively seeking and offering feedback, contributing to recruiting, driving knowledge sharing, and seeking mentorship.

Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Experience building large-scale platforms for web applications.
- Experience in leading the projects that span across multiple teams and require cross functional collaboration.
- Experience mentoring and leading a small team of engineers.
- Expertise in Python and Django is a must-have.
- Familiarity with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
- Strong grasp of CS fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, and system design basics.
- Comfortable debugging and troubleshooting independently.
- Bonus: Exposure to frontend development (JavaScript) is a plus.

absolutely horrendous interview experience at Rippling
I recently went through on site loop for sde 2 position at rippling, i cleared the first round, after the second round of interview was done i waited for 3 days before following up when i was told that no feedback was submitted yet by the interviewer, i said fine, i'll wait, another week passed, still the same fking response, i don't know why they are hogging up my feedback like this, it is putting me in a bad position as other candidates have already moved forward and attempted the final round,
