Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.85 from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

About the role
We're looking for an experienced payroll specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.
As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to develop new muscles around global product operations and country-specific payroll expertise.
This role, Senior Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is a critical hire for the Global Payroll Operations team that will be fully dedicated to developing and executing these new capabilities. This role will own all operational aspects across the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region, which includes tax and statutory payment resolution on behalf of our customers, communication with government agencies, and collaboration with R&D teams and external partners. Additionally, this role brings critical country-specific payroll expertise to support the development of our natively built payroll software and expansion into new customer segments and geographies.
This is an exciting role that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with a major impact on the product and customer experience.
What you will do
- Serve as the subject matter expert for STP auditing and year-end finalisation, ensuring full compliance with ATO and IRD regulations through accurate and timely submission of EIs and EDs, while driving issue resolution directly with government agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Manage statutory payment submissions across Australia and New Zealand, including Superannuation, Kiwi Saver, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and Payroll Tax, while conducting regular audits of payroll records, deductions, and tax withholdings.
- Define product requirements grounded in deep understanding of current system behaviour (Product Operations expertise), and lead special projects including product launches and payroll audits.
- Partner closely with Global Payroll Engineering and Product teams to ensure payroll software supports key compliance requirements, product bugs (e.g., calculation and file generation errors) are resolved quickly, and internal tooling and automation needs are effectively prioritised and delivered.
- Engage directly with customers, respond quickly to escalations, investigate root causes, and effectively de-escalate complex payroll and compliance queries.
- Demonstrate strong project management and communication skills, and develop operating procedures that keep pace with evolving regulatory requirements.
- Support the scaling of ANZ payroll operations by contributing to payroll strategy, improving consistency and accuracy, and translating operational insight into concrete product and process improvements.
What you will need
- Extensive experience running payroll in the ANZ region, with strong expertise in payroll compliance
- Prior experience handling tax-related matters and resolving tax notices with the ATO and IRD
- Strong understanding of ANZ HR and payroll laws and policies
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 4+ years of ANZ payroll operations experience and 5+ years in a client-facing role
- Highly desirable: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with R&D teams in defining requirements, testing, launching, and auditing new products or features
- Strong project management, communication, and organisational skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in cross-functional environments
- Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office for data analysis and workflow management; familiarity with Salesforce, Jira, and Confluence is a plus
- Ability to overlap with US working hours (Eastern and Pacific Time preferred)

Rejected by Rippling. Turns out they use their own AI interview scoring product to evaluate candidates. The irony is not lost on me.
Spent 12 hours preparing for a role at Rippling. Got through the recruiter screen, made it to the HM round, received a form rejection the next day. Standard stuff. Happens to everyone. What I found interesting: Rippling sells an AI-powered Interview Assistant as part of their recruiting platform. It records interviews, generates transcripts, produces AI summaries, and synthesizes interviewer feedback into a single candidate assessment that goes to the hiring team. Implementation Manager at Global Payroll - Rippling
Hey, I got an offer for Implementation Manager at Global Payroll at Rippling. This is a US based role. The glassdoor reviews are so bad and I am getting nervous to accept. Is Rippling a really bad company to work for? I am somebody who values work life balance. Can someone give me some insights on this?
