We’re looking for a

Payroll transformation Specialist to support the delivery of payroll system changes and transformation for a newly acquired New Zealand manufacturing organisation. This role is ideal for someone who understands payroll deeply, thinks critically about risk, and enjoys partnering across the business to deliver accurate, compliant outcomes.  This is an office‑based position, requiring attendance onsite four days per week.

Your role

  • Acting as the payroll subject matter expert on a 6 month payroll system implementation project using ADP Payforce payroll solution and Workday timekeeping solution.

  • Translating legislation, awards, and business rules into payroll system design.

  • Managing user acceptance testing, parallel runs, and reconciliations.

  • Working closely with HR, Finance, IT, and vendors to deliver accurate payroll outcomes.

  • Identifying payroll risks early and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.

  • Supporting leaders and employees through payroll‑related change.

  • After successful implementation you will be responsible for the end to end payroll processing of a fortnightly payroll for a 24/7 manufacturing operation and all associated payroll tasks.

  • Support the Payroll and Benefits Manager as required.

  • Your experience

  • Strong hands‑on payroll experience in a complex environment

  • Experience supporting or leading payroll system implementations

  • Excellent attention to detail and data analytical skills

  • Confidence working with cross‑functional teams and vendors

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • A calm, professional approach when working under pressure

Essential:

  • 8 years’ experience in a payroll/human resources environment.

  • Payroll or Finance qualification or equivalent.

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Intermediate to Advanced skill level

  • Desirable
  • Payroll System: ADP Payforce and Workday
