About this Job

In this role, you'll be contributing to the development of Open Stack Manila project, of the Open Shift Operators we use for its deployment and to the development of automated testing. You will work on a variety of technologies and open source projects. As a Red Hat Software Engineer, you will become part of a distributed team collaborating and communicating with other team members and open source community developers, working independently. We are looking for people that are passionate about modern software development, continuous improvement and open source.

What will you do

• Deliver software and support for Red Hat's Open Stack Cloud product
• Develop and maintain the Open Stack Manila shared filesystem service and the related components, provide customer support for the product
• Develop Open Shift Operators to allow for the deployment of Red Hat Open Stack Manila
• Develop CI and automated testing for Red Hat Open Stack and Manila
• Help deliver Red Hat's strategy around Open Stack Cloud deployment and management of Open Stack Manila and Open Stack storage in general
• Contribute to the writing and review of customer documentation
• Engage and assist in the resolution of software issues both internally and from external customers
• Contribute to the the quality and success of our Red Hat products and the open source communities that serve as our foundation

What will you bring

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, will also consider other options
• Comfortable working with a distributed remote international team and being located in office
• Good English written and verbal communication skills
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience developing in programming languages like Python, Go, Java, or Ruby
• Experience using Linux and debugging Linux environments
• Familiarity with cloud storage, Open Stack, Kubernetes and related infrastructure as a service (IaaS) technologies is a plus
• Experience with distributed systems and networking is a plus
• Experience with Open Stack, Manila, and file system technologies would be ideal
• Open Source community experience is a plus
• Passion for solving problems, continuous improvement, teamwork and open communication are key strengths
