Job Summary:

The Consumer Agentic Experiences team is the central team for Pay Pal's app, unifying agentic skills through a single conversational AI surface.

This job acts as a project leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers, determining technical tasks, and improving existing structures and processes. It involves making technical decisions, collaborating with management to set standards, and representing the company to external partners.

Job Description: Essential Responsibilities:

• Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
• Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
• Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
• Proactively improves existing structures & processes
• Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems
• Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions
• Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor
• Trusted to represent Pay Pal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications: What you'll bring

• Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale consumer-facing iOS applications using Swift (including Swift Concurrency — async/await, actors, structured concurrency) and modern iOS frameworks.

• Proficiency in both SwiftUI and UIKit, with the judgment to know when each is the right tool. Experience with MVVM or modular/clean architecture patterns at scale.

• Hands-on experience integrating Graph

QL and REST APIs:

• Demonstrated ability to own performance and quality, profiling with Instruments, optimizing launch time, managing memory

• Strong testing discipline , unit, integration, and UI testing using XCTest or equivalent frameworks. Familiarity with accessibility standards and Apple Human Interface Guidelines for consumer-grade apps.

• A passion for mentoring and growing software engineers, with a track record of raising the technical bar across a team.

Your Day to Day

• Lead technical design and implementation of complex features end-to-end, Partner closely with Android, backend, product, and design to ensure cross-platform consistency and shared architectural contracts (API schemas, protocols, error handling patterns).

• Set and enforce engineering standards for the iOS codebase: code review, design review, testing strategy, and operational readiness. Raise the quality bar so that it compounds across the team, not just your own code.

• Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders (product, design, content, compliance) by translating complex technical constraints into clear, actionable language that drives aligned decisions.

• Maintain a focus on solutions while contributing to the technical vision and roadmap of the domain. Exercise judgment to balance diverse and competing priorities, identifying optimal solutions to complex problems.

• Mentor and grow iOS engineers across levels — through pairing, design reviews, and creating clarity on what "great" looks like in architecture, testing, and operational ownership.
