Job Summary:
As a credit risk manager for the global leader in online payments, PayPal’s Credit Risk Governance team, you will have an impact on PayPal’s consumer and commercial lending activities in Europe.Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Identify issues and recommend best practices for the administration of legal entities and subsidiaries.
- Lead functional projects and programs that contribute to business or process improvements.
- Analyze business trends to inform decision-making and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate corporate records and documentation.
Expected Qualifications:
- 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
Our credit risk managers work to document our policies and procedures, maintain them as these policies and procedures are revised on an ongoing basis, monitor the execution of them to detect any exception cases, log the resolution of respective investigations, as well as review, escalate, and follow through on the remediation of any operational issues in relation to credit portfolios, and partner with various teams within PayPal’s credit organization to ensure that the risk oversight model is correctly applied on all European credit products. If you are a credit risk professional with an interest in operational risk management, credit risk appetite setting, forbearance program/non-performing exposure analysis, European banking regulations, solving challenges, and working in a highly collaborative and values driven environment, then PayPal’s Credit Risk Governance team is looking for you.
In your role as a credit risk manager, you will:
- Manage credit policy change governance, working also with global credit team as needed to appropriately update policy and procedure documents, and log any changes.
- Interact with global credit compliance and legal teams to confirm that the credit policies are compliant with applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Manage timely compliance with credit risk-related legal requirements, attend the corresponding Regulatory Change Forum, and lead regulatory compliance projects such as emerging CSSF/ECB requirements.
- Interact with the Regulatory Reporting team to oversee the forbearance and non-performing exposure reporting to CSSF and credit related reports to BCL.
- Monitor policy execution to ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures, and log potential policy breaches, investigation results, and eventual resolutions.
- Interact with global credit control and operations teams to become aware of any operational issues/incidents as they arise and inform PayPal Europe management on root causes, remediation plans, financial impact, and preventive actions.
- Verify the accuracy of the periodic portfolio level credit risk appetite reviews.
- Draft and coordinate credit-related parts of various daily reports to the regulator, such as Self Assessment Questionnaire/SAQ, Short Form Report/SAQ.
- Conduct Credit Risk Assessment as well as Business Impact Analysis and Business Continuity Management including sub-sequent updates.
- Participate in credit audits and inspections to provide support to internal and external auditors on all these activities as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in risk management, compliance, consulting, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team worker, responsible, delivery oriented.
- Ability to work with a group of people within the credit team or broadly across the larger organization to achieve desired outcomes in an effective way.
- Ability to accomplish tasks with close attention to detail checking work carefully even over smaller points.
- Experience in banking regulatory background in EU.
