Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Environmental Qualification Engineer/Principal Environmental Qualification Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL.

This position may be filled by either at the Environmental Qualification Engineer level OR at the Principal Environmental Qualification Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.

The selected individual will perform within an interdisciplinary team to develop novel and innovative solutions to advanced technical problems.
The candidate will be responsible to the Environmental Qualification Engineering Lead and Specialty Engineering Manager and work with other IPTs to successfully implement requirements, design and verification necessary to achieve successful system equipment qualification.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Interpret design guidelines, review test procedures, test reports, technical analyses, participate in cross discipline design reviews, develop models and perform analyses on components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and non-governmental standards, for example MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 and travel to supplier sites to guide/witness tests.

• Interpret, allocate, tailor, and flow down requirements to all design levels.

• Support design reviews to internal and external customers regarding EQ issues.

Basic Qualifications:

Environmental Qualification Engineer (T02):

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 2 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.

• Active Do

D Secret Clearance:

• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) in a reasonable amount of time determined by the company (needed to start).

Basic Qualifications:Principal Environmental Qualification Engineer (T03):

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.

• Active Do

D Secret Clearance:

• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) in a reasonable amount of time determined by the company (needed to start).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge in thermal and/or vibration analysis and related software such as ANSYS, Flotherm, FEMAP, etc.

• Knowledge in electronics or electro-mechanical design including understanding of packaging and interconnects.

• Familiarity with Model BASED Systems Engineering and SysML tools such as Cameo

• An active Top Secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
