We are looking for you to join our team as a Network Engineer/Principal Network Engineer based out of Mc Clellan, CA. As a Network Engineer/Principal Network Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Through the use of Model-based Engineering, Dev Sec Ops and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation.
What You'll get to Do:

  • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment

  • Design and plan network communication systems

  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture

  • Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software

  • Advise on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program's systems

  • Implement engineering changes, techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to the system as required

  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network, computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing to include routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc

  • Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures

  • Responsible for completing the network configurations and coordinating with the peers, SMEs, and government engineers.

  • Evaluate new communication technologies to enhance capabilities of the network

  • Occasional travel may be required

This position may be filled as a Network Engineer or Principal Network Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for Network Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 2 years of experience; OR 0 years of experience with a Masters degree or an additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree.

  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.

  • Understanding of IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP sub-netting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.

  • Understanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE).

  • Understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.

  • Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

  • Must be a US Citizen in order to meet clearance requirement

  • *CLEARANCE: Active DoD secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Network Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; OR 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; OR 1 year of experience with STEM PhD degree or an additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree.

  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.

  • Understanding of IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP sub-netting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.

  • Understanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE).

  • Understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.

  • Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

  • Must be a US Citizen in order to meet clearance requirement.

  • *CLEARANCE: Active DoD secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent.

  • A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a Network+, CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.

  • Familiar with network management applications, like Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE.

  • Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.

  • Familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Power

Point and Visio:

  • Active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance to start; TS/SCI after hiring.

Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
