Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Experimental Aerodynamicist Engineer. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports Sentinel and Advanced Programs (AP).
What You Will Get To Do:
As an Experimental Aerodynamicist Engineer on the Aero/Fluids team you will be responsible for supporting the Aero/Fluids functional homeroom manager in guiding the execution and ensuring quality of the Aero/Fluids teamwork products across Sentinel and Advanced Programs.
Position Responsibilities Include:

Develop and execute test objectives, requirements, and plans, while ensuring repeatability and compliance with safety and data quality standards.

Aid in design of test models for various aero/fluids team subscale test, ground test, and flight test.
-
Ensure the quality of Aero/Fluids team products meets the technical excellence standards
-
Collaborate closely with other relevant disciplines/IPTs, e.g. Flight Analysis, Structures, Propulsion, Integration and test, etc.

Communicate effectively and clearly, present technical approaches and findings to customers, executive management, and other program stakeholders.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You Will Bring These Qualifications:

Experimental Aerodynamicist Engineer: 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 1 year with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Do
D Secret Clearance:
-
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
-
Deep understanding of fluid dynamics principles, aerodynamic theory used in various types of experimental or CFD settings (Subsonic, supersonic, hypersonic, and rarefied flow).
-
1 year of experience creating data objectives and requirements to ensure a successful test campaign meeting all customer and stakeholder requirements.
-
Experience analyzing wind tunnel test data and flight test results for verification and validation of models
-
Involvement with the planning and execution of physical aerodynamics related testing applications such as wind tunnels or flight test validation including scheduling, test matrix and development of test items.
-
Strong communication skills and ability to work across IPTs.
-
Experience using CAD software to aid in the creation of experimental design test set up
-
Demonstrated technical writing experience in both authoring and reviewing formal analysis documentation.

Sound understanding of uncertainty quantification.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
These Qualifications Are Nice To Have:

Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.

Understanding of ablation, boundary layer transition, acoustics, plasma and other complex reacting flow phenomenon.

Experience with CFD processes and using tools such as Pointwise, CFD++, Star CCM, and Tecplot.
-
Experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar for integration into 3/6DOF simulations.
-
Experience with analytical aerodynamic design tools, e.g. Missile DATCOM or similar.
-
Demonstrated experience working with Linux and Windows based HPC's for aero/fluids work.
-
Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
-
DoD Secret Clearance or greater.
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
