We are seeking dependable laborers to support daily operations at the Charlotte Roadway Shop. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment and assisting with the movement, handling, and preparation of materials and equipment used in railroad track and shop operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all railroad safety rules and operating regulations
  • Clean and maintain shop facilities, equipment, and surrounding grounds
  • Move, sort, and stage materials, parts, and supplies
  • Perform sorting and scrapping of parts and materials
  • Operate motorized and mechanical equipment to support shop operations
  • Assist skilled trades and shop personnel as needed

Equipment & Tools Operated:

  • Forklifts
  • Shop trucks
  • Hoists
  • Mechanical cleaning equipment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical stamina and reliability
  • Basic mechanical awareness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and handle materials up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment safely
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding work

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Shop and yard environment
  • Work performed on and around equipment and materials
