About the role

Job Description

This role sits at the intersection of creativity and strategy, with direct influence on how some of the world's most recognized luxury brands show up in Nordstrom stores. You'll serve as a key thought partner to senior leadership across categories, such as Men’s and Women’s Designer, Beauty, Fine Jewelry, Shoes and Handbags, shaping experiences that bring Nordstrom values and our commitment to customer service to life.

This Concept Designer brings a cohesive creative vision to life across our portfolio of stores — from flagship locations to prototypical. You establish and maintain design standards and drive consistency across multiple categories and store types. You bring a thoughtful and creative approach to your design solutions, balancing Nordstrom brand standards with designer brand identity to ensure a cohesive customer experience. This is a role for you if you drive solution-based thinking, thrive within a rapidly changing environment and build trust with people at every level of the organization. You'll move fluidly between big-picture strategy and ground-level execution, guiding concepts from initial ideation all the way through rollout adaptation.

A day in the life…

  • Bring a curious, exploratory mindset to every project — always looking for new ways to elevate the in-store experience and drive continuous improvement
  • Drive creative vision within Nordstrom Full-line Stores, translating brand narratives and merchandising strategies into compelling, customer-centric in-store experiences
  • Own the end-to-end creative concept process, from ideation through in-store rollout adaptation across the full store fleet, adapting designs across formats and scales
  • Navigate complex relationships with internal teams and external designer brands, aligning diverse perspectives toward shared creative goals
  • Excel at gathering disparate requirements and priorities across stakeholders, synthesizing them into creative solutions that drive alignment and deliver the right outcomes
  • Present creative concepts clearly and persuasively to audiences ranging from external brand partners to executive leadership
  • Take thorough meeting notes and clearly document decisions, changes, and rationale throughout the full project life cycle

You own this if you have…

  • 10+ years of experience in concept design through project execution, supported by a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, and a strong foundation in experiential design within fast-paced luxury retail environments
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills — a clear, confident communicator and problem solver who is detail-oriented and builds trust across multidisciplinary teams to drive effective decision-making
  • A forward-thinking creative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and driving business results through design, including proficiency in industry tools (Sketch Up, 3D rendering software, Revit/AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Smartsheet) and willingness to travel up to 50% in support of business goals
