Must-Have:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, Telecommunication Engineering or similar.
- Profound knowledge and practical experience about ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) design and verification, respective EDA tools (Synopsys, Siemens, Cadence), the related design languages (VHDL, System Verilog), scripting languages (Python, TCL) and overall development and automation environment (Git, Jenkins, Splunk).
- Design verification methodologies (e.g. UVM) and Formal Verification of design results (e.g. LEC, CDC, PDV) as well as use of hardware emulation and prototyping.
- Basic understanding of firmware development, software structures and methods (C/C++, development of drivers and APIs for the design blocks).
- Good communication skills, fluent written and spoken English (required) and German (expected), with a strong interest to collaborate with international partners.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge about coherent optical transmission systems and their components, transmission theory and algorithms, forward error correction, modulation formats and respective implementations.
- Knowledge about circuit pack design and functionality.
- Knowledge of optical transmission standards like OIF, IEEE, ITU-T etc.
- Knowledge of LINUX-based systems IT infrastructure management.
- Inter-disciplinary and inter-cultural collaboration experience.
As an ASIC/SoC Development Engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting and developing cutting-edge sub-micron devices. This role demands exceptional technical expertise, strong collaborative skills, and an unwavering commitment to delivering uncompromising quality.
You will thrive in a culture of autonomy and individual responsibility within an international development team, crafting advanced system-on-chip devices for coherent transmission systems.
Your key responsibilities:
- Architect, specify, design, verify and synthesize ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) design blocks for coherent transmission systems, including testbench development and formal verification of design results.
- Strong focus on design and implementation optimization regarding timing and power consumption by leveraging the latest CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) technology nodes and applying dedicated power analysis tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with physical design teams to ensure seamless handoff of synthesized designs.
- Drive the optimization of methodologies, scripts and tool chains to maximize efficiency and performance across design, verification, and synthesis.
- Efficiently diagnose and quickly resolve any issues to meet project timelines.
- Select available IPs (intellectual properties) to be integrated into our design as well as communication with third party IP suppliers.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) technology, related tools and methodologies.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, hardware, software, firmware, and test engineering across international Nokia locations.
