Join the Copilot for Education team as a Senior Principal Product Manager and lead the
development of AI‑first learning experiences that help students excel in their schoolwork and educational journeys. This role sits at the intersection of learning science, adaptive technologies, and cutting‑edge AI, driving products that meaningfully improve student outcomes at scale.
You will shape product vision, strategy, and execution across multiple feature areas to create tools that motivate, personalize, and enhance student learning outcomes. Responsibilities Product Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the long‑term product strategy for student‑focused learning tools, integrating learning science, adaptive learning, and AI‑driven workflows.
- Translate complex educational, technical, and market insights into a clear product vision and roadmap across multiple feature areas.
- Drive product‑market fit by synthesizing customer signals, competitive analysis, and research evidence to identify unmet or emerging student needs.
- Establish success metrics (OKRs, KPIs, learning efficacy measures) and ensure alignment with Microsoft’s broader AI strategy.
- Partner with researchers, educators, and data science teams to validate hypotheses, run experiments, and incorporate evidence‑based instructional methods.
- Champion learning efficacy and motivational frameworks into product experiences.
- Identify opportunities to disrupt the education market with innovative, student‑centered solutions that differentiate Copilot for Education.
Cross‑Functional Leadership & Execution
- Lead end‑to‑end product execution —from ideation to launch to iteration—ensuring high standards of quality, security, accessibility, and responsible AI.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, research, marketing, and data teams to deliver cohesive, scalable student experiences.
- Drive alignment resolving complex dependencies and influencing senior stakeholders to support product strategy and investments.
- Use data and AI‑driven insights to continuously improve engagement, retention, and student outcomes.
- Leverage AI‑powered tools and prototyping workflows to accelerate design exploration, experimentation, and iteration.
Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record of shipping impactful consumer education technology products.
- Deep understanding of learning science, adaptive learning, and engagement-driven design
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including research, engineering, design, data, and education stakeholders.
- Passion for improving educational outcomes and creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to inform product decisions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of inspiring teams and influencing senior leaders.
Product Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
