Business Development Manager

The Business & Development Lead is responsible for identifying, developing and commercializing inland transportation solutions that create value for customers while ensuring profitability and operational feasibility. The role sits within Landside Transportation and plays a key influencing role across Sales and Operations, owning market analysis, product fit, and P&L performance for assigned channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze market trends, customer needs and customer journeys to identify relevant inland transportation opportunities.
  • Develop and standardize inland products (Reefer) that fit customer requirements and Maersk operational capabilities.
  • Own product profitability, including P&L responsibility (volume, revenue, gross profit).
  • Work closely with Sales to define what should be sold and where, ensuring strong product-market fit.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure solutions are operationally feasible, cost-efficient and scalable.
  • Support commercial activities including customer onboarding, quotations and solution design.
  • Promote import and export opportunities, with specific focus on Puerto Quetzal.
  • Continuously seek cost optimization, margin improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a key influencer across the customer journey, ensuring a consistent and high-quality customer experience.

Required Experience & Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, International Trade or related fields.

  • 5+ years of experience in inland / ground transportation within commercial or business development roles.

  • Solid understanding of costs, profitability and inland transportation economics.

  • Proven ability to influence Sales and Operations stakeholders.

  • Experience working with customers in logistics or supply chain environments.

  • Product development approach with strong sales orientation.

  • High integrity, accountability and emotional intelligence.

  • Ability to perform effectively in matrix and fast-paced environments.

Tools & Systems

  • Microsoft Office (advanced Excel required).

  • Power BI (basic knowledge).

Language Requirements

  • English: Advanced, used to collaborate with regional and global sales teams and support ocean–inland solutions. #.
