We’re looking for a motivated self-starter with big-firm and in-house public company securities, corporate governance, and contract experience to join our Legal team. Working in our New York City office and reporting to our Associate General Counsel, Corporate, you’ll work directly with teams across the company and across the globe, including finance, investor relations, communications, compliance, and procurement. If you can apply a broad range of skills to an even broader range of legal issues, all in a game-changing hyper-growth startup environment- this one’s for you.

We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.

Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.

IN THIS ROLE YOU'LL:

  • Work across teams to support the Company’s corporate governance, corporate recordkeeping, and public company reporting and compliance efforts

  • Prepare agendas, resolutions, and minutes for Board and committee meetings to ensure accurate documentation

  • Prepare, review and file regulatory filings for state insurance and secretary of state departments

  • Review SEC filings including Form 8-K, 10-K, 10-Q, and Proxy Statements

  • Review press releases, investor presentations, and other public announcements for compliance with SEC and regulatory requirements

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts, such as SaaS agreements, professional services agreements, and marketing agreements

  • Act as a strategic partner, providing valuable insights to internal stakeholders throughout the contract process

  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with proposed transactions

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 2-3+ years experience practicing corporate law in an Am Law 200 firm and/or in-house at a public company

  • Experience working with commercial law, including complex & commercial contracts

  • Experience working at or with a publicly traded company (insurance or other financial services company preferred)

  • Enjoy working in a technology-driven setting, can balance a shifting to-do list, and willing to pitch in where the team needs it most

  • Bachelor degree and JD degree from an accredited law school

  • Experience with startups and/or tech companies is a plus, as is global experience

  • Bar admission in good standing (New York preferred)

  • Ready to work in an office environment most days a week

  • Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI — a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 to $175,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Speak to your recruiter to hear more about the specific salary range for your preferred location.
