We’re looking for a senior backend engineer to help us build an automated partnerships platform that will enable Lemonade to scale partnerships by 10x.

You’ll design and build core backend components that directly power Lemonade’s revenue stream—from developing our public APIs to creating our in-house tracking system and building internal tools to boost efficiency and automation. Our vision is to build a platform that enables partners to distribute and sell Lemonade products in a self-serve manner, while empowering our partner managers to focus on scale.

In this role you'll:

• Design and build Lemonade's public API from the ground up using our TypeScript/Node.js stack (NestJS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, AWS)

• Collaborate directly with various technical and business stakeholders across Lemonade to deliver scalable solutions.

• Research and architect API design patterns, you'll own decisions that shape how thousands of partners interact with Lemonade

• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and explore low/no-code solutions that reduce our time-to-market,

• Build developer-facing tools like documentation portals and SDKs, powered by AI where it makes sense.

• Develop scalable platform solutions that ensure future readiness while keeping technical debt to an absolute minimum.

• Balance immediate business needs with long-term architectural decisions as we scale this new revenue channel

What you'll need:

• Adaptability, drive, and an efficiency mindset — we believe these matter most in human-AI collaboration

• 7+ years as a backend engineer with experience building APIs that other developers actually use

• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working with stakeholders — you'll be in direct contact with internal teams and business stakeholders.

• Experience working on product-focused teams, where your code directly serves business goals

• The ability to elevate those around you. We champion critical thinking and a commitment to constantly raising the bar.

• TypeScript/Node.js experience (or strong willingness to dive deep into our stack)

• Track record of making architectural decisions on projects that needed to scale

• Ability to work in our Amsterdam office a minimum of 3 days a week
