The Server Infrastructure Administrator will operate as a senior technical contributor and may provide coordination and technical leadership across a team of server administrators. This position requires strong troubleshooting expertise, disciplined change management, and the ability to support complex enterprise environments while collaborating across multiple IT domains.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage enterprise server infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with mission requirements.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions for servers, operating systems, configurations, and enterprise architecture.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, hardware, software, and Active Directory/Group Policy issues to minimize downtime and mission impact.
  • Perform advanced software installations, upgrades, patching, and updates to operating systems and layered applications.
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Ensure data integrity and system security through implementation of approved configurations, security controls, and best practices.
  • Lead or support disaster recovery and continuity efforts to ensure system and service recoverability.
  • Conduct system and network audits to ensure compliance with DISA STIGs, policies, and configuration standards.
  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and security.

Technical Leadership & Coordination (Non-Supervisory)

  • Provide technical leadership and coordination across a team of server administrators supporting enterprise operations.
  • Lead or coordinate task execution for complex, high-visibility, or time-sensitive operational efforts.
  • Serve as an acting senior point of contact during outages, escalations, or when team leadership is unavailable.
  • Assist in prioritizing workload and aligning team efforts with mission requirements, SLAs, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (ESS, Virtualization, Storage, Network, Monitoring, Customer Support) to resolve issues and implement solutions.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with organizational and mission objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less-experienced administrators, promoting technical growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, playbooks, and technical documentation to support operational continuity.
  • Perform DISA STIG review, implementation, and compliance validation.
  • Support incident response activities, bridge calls, and troubleshooting efforts during major outages or events.
  • Contribute to process improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives across the server environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical training, certifications (CompTIA Security+), or a degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 8**+ years of experience** in system administration or a related role in an enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Strong experience with system configuration, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with system backup, recovery, and continuity processes.
  • Ability to operate within structured change management processes in a mission-critical environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible).
  • Experience supporting DoD or Combatant Command environments.
  • Strong ability to evaluate and recommend technical improvements and modernization efforts.

Skills

  • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills across server infrastructure and enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of system performance tuning, optimization, and reliability engineering.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead technical efforts and coordinate across multiple teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-tempo, mission-critical environment.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10% travel to OCONUS locations for USCENTCOM exercise support.
