Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) – Level 2 to support the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in the day-to-day administration of the Information Systems (IS) security program. This position is intended for candidates with beginner to early career experience in cybersecurity or information system security.

The ISSO will work closely with the ISSM, Facility Security Officer (FSO), and Information Technology (IT) teams to help ensure classified information systems meet all government, company, and regulatory security requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow established processes under general supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in conducting audits and reviews on classified information systems.

  • Help collect, protect, and review audit and security related records.

  • Support efforts to ensure systems comply with approved security policies, procedures, and control requirements.

  • Verify user access requirements and ensure users complete necessary security training.

  • Report potential security incidents to the ISSM in a timely manner.

  • Participate in periodic security reviews and assessments.

  • Support configuration management activities, including participation in the Configuration Control Board (CCB) as needed.

  • Notify the ISSM of changes to system configurations or conditions that may affect authorization.

  • Assist in monitoring system recovery and backup activities for proper security procedures.

  • Maintain and update system security documentation under the guidance of the ISSM.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior cybersecurity, IT, or ISSO experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior cybersecurity, IT, or ISSO experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior cybersecurity, IT, or ISSO experience.

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

  • Current DoD 8570 Baseline Certification, Level I or higher (Security+ CE, CAP, GSLC, etc.).

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Basic understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) or willingness to learn.

  • Familiarity with DCSA requirements is a plus.

  • Exposure to audit tools such as SPLUNK or similar platforms.

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows or Linux system administration.

  • Understanding of configuration management or change control processes.

  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (switches, network security devices, encryption).

  • Foundational understanding of security concepts (Active Directory, log analysis, data protection).

  • Ability to learn and use security management tools and applications.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to support multiple tasks.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Motivated, proactive team player able to work under general supervision.
