Mexico Tech Hub – Data Run Excellence Team Our Mexico Tech Hub plays a crucial role in L'Oréal's global technology landscape, driving innovation and providing essential support across various domains. Within this hub, our team is dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation and optimal performance of critical data and analytical platforms. This specific role will be part of the team overseeing the support of Power BI components integral to the Americas Beauty Tech Data Platform. We are committed to providing reliable, efficient, and user-centric support, fostering a collaborative environment, and continuously striving for excellence in data visualization and reporting.

The Role: L'Oréal is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Power BI Specialist to join our team at the Mexico Tech Hub. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end support, maintenance, and optimization of Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets that are part of the Americas BTDP data products. Leveraging your extensive Power BI expertise, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, analyze performance, and recommend enhancements to ensure our business users have access to accurate, timely, and insightful data visualizations. This role requires a deep understanding of Power BI's capabilities, strong SQL skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Power BI Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets, diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to data connectivity, data refresh, report performance, and data accuracy.
  • Investigate root causes of issues within Power BI components, often requiring analysis of underlying data sources and data models.
  • Collaborate with end-users, product teams, and business stakeholders to understand and address their Power BI-related challenges and requirements.
  • Performance Analysis & Optimization: Monitor the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze Power BI data models, DAX queries, and M-query logic to recommend and implement optimizations for faster report loading and improved user experience.
  • Propose and implement solutions for efficient data refresh processes and scalable data models within Power BI.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison between business users, product teams, and our managed service provider for all Power BI-related support activities.
  • Work closely with the managed service provider to ensure timely resolution of incidents, effective change management, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Translate complex technical issues and solutions into clear, understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis & SQL Proficiency: Utilize strong SQL skills to query and analyze underlying data sources (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes) to validate data in Power BI, troubleshoot discrepancies, and understand data structures.
  • Assist in data quality checks and verification processes to ensure the integrity of data presented in Power BI.
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Power BI reports, datasets, data models, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of Power BI best practices, governance standards, and reporting guidelines across the organization.
  • Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and updates, evaluating their potential impact and benefits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Approximately 7 years of dedicated experience in developing, supporting, and optimizing Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Extensive hands-on expertise with Microsoft Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Gateway, and Power BI Premium capabilities.
  • Strong proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M-query language for data modeling and transformation.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries, analyze database structures, and extract data for validation and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience in optimizing Power BI report performance, including data model design, query tuning, and visualization best practices.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with managed service providers, product teams, and diverse business stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with other business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Big Query, Snowflake) as data sources for Power BI.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and dimensional modeling.
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate integration with Power BI.
  • Prior experience in a support or operations role for analytical platforms.
