Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Technical specialist for Semiconductor Handling Systems (Automation / Robotic) is responsible for ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation of robotic handling systems across our production. This includes maintaining various KLA handler platforms, executing mechanical and software adaptations, leading troubleshooting activities, and supporting cross‑functional teams with technical expertise.

This role is critical to sustaining production performance, enabling high tool availability, and ensuring consistent quality in automated material movement.

Key Responsibilities1. Maintenance & Reliability

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic handling systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
  • Ensure proper functioning of load ports, end-effectors, aligners, grippers, sensors, and motion axes.
  • Monitor performance indicators and initiate relevant actions.
  • Support preparation and readiness of handlers before shipment to customers.
  • Maintain and keep the handler database and history up-to.date

2. Adaptations & Upgrades

  • Execute mechanical adaptations (e.g., end-effector replacements, rework, unit rebuilds).
  • Support configuration changes based on new product or customer requirements.
  • Validate and document modifications according to internal standards and engineering requirements.

3. Troubleshooting & Technical Support

  • Diagnose issues in robotic subsystems (motion control, sensors, brakes, repeatability, alignment).
  • Provide on‑floor support for urgent production incidents and long-term problem solving.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing and engineering teams and external experts (e.g., vendor specialists) to resolve recurring issues.
  • Analyze robot behaviors (e.g., sagging, overforce errors, alignment drift) to identify root causes and corrective actions.

4. Training & Knowledge Transfer

  • Train operators, technicians, and new team members on handling system operation, safety, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical work instructions, checklists, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for handling system topics within the site.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Logistics.
  • Share feedback and improvement opportunities with design and NPI teams.

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications Required

  • Technical degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years work experience with robotic systems, semiconductor handling systems, or industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of motion systems, robot kinematics, pneumatics, sensors, and safety interlocks.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and performing mechanical/electrical adjustments.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation (mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, calibration sheets).
  • Strong analytical mindset with structured problem‑solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with semiconductor material handling platforms.
  • Familiarity with alignment processes, and load port operation.
  • Knowledge of SEMI standards (e.g., S2, E84) is a plus.
  • Experience in high‑volume manufacturing or cleanroom environments.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and training ability.
  • High reliability and ownership mentality.
  • Team‑oriented, proactive, and able to work under time pressure.
  • Quality driven mindset
  • Structured documentation skills.
  • Focus on local production floor, traveling for training and occasional customer on-site support required (max. 20%)

  • A dynamic, international environment with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Professional development and training.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.

We offer a competitive, family friendly total rewards package. We design our programs to reflect our commitment to an inclusive environment, while ensuring we provide benefits that meet the diverse needs of our employees.
