As a Wholesale Lead Credit Officer within the Merchant Services Product Team, you will be at the center of keeping JPMorgan Chase strong and resilient. You will help the firm grow its business responsibly by anticipating new and emerging risks and using your expert judgment to solve real-world challenges. Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage new business credit requests for the merchant services product across all lines of business, including business banking, commercial banking and investment banking clients, across shared lending relationships and merchant only requests
  • Conduct due diligence and credit analysis to assess prospect creditworthiness and make decisions independently, and recommendations to senior leadership as needed
  • Coordinate with the credit coverage officer as applicable for shared banking relationships to advise on product specific risks and make recommendations
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the business on new business requests, including interfacing with merchant services sales and bankers.
  • Lead discussions and communications with both internal and external stakeholders, operating with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for outcomes
  • Drive team development by mentoring associates and fostering a culture of holistic risk thinking and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years experience in a comparable environment, in a Credit Risk role
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and understanding of credit risk
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
  • History of working with high volumes and making sound decisions with a quick turnaround
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish credibility and trust with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of key credit risk metrics and using those metrics to formulate decisions and recommendations to appropriately address risks, and mitigants to a proposed deal
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities, with various deals, projects and communications occurring simultaneously
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of independence, leading communication, stakeholder calls and communicating recommendations to senior leaders as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail with a history of working in a regulated environment
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience in payments or merchant services credit risk
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Master’s degree in a business related discipline, or other certifications including CFA, CPA or other applicable
