P&I is a post settlement team within Asset Servicing organization responsible for the resolution of breaks derived from the normal process of coupon/interest and principal payment of fixed income products.

The team has the oversight of bonds (ABS, CMO, MBS, Corp&Munis, USTs) payments in USD currency in JPM portfolio for both Institutional and Prime Broker businesses.

Role Description

Responsibilities of this role may include monitoring, analyzing, and processing transactions via numerous proprietary and vendor systems. You will be responsible for facilitating the accurate and timely P&I transactions for all products under scope across domestic and international markets. You will also be responsible for monitoring and mitigating risk across the overall operational process and trade life cycle, which will also see you building partnership(s) with other strategic J.P. Morgan locations, clients and vendors. In addition, you will be responsible for analyzing and processing inquiries/claims from internal and external clients/counterparties.

Key Operational Areas:

In Buenos Aires the P&I team is responsible for the payables and receivables breaks and the team is currently split based on the platform used:

IMPACT - All fixed income products (that pay in USD) under DTC ID 187)

SCPP - CMOs, Priv Plc, MBS, Treasuries (that pay in USD) under DTC ID 352

Ops Counterparties: P&I services are supported from Buenos Aires and Delaware.

Key Stakeholders (country; MO; Client; FO etc.):

On Institutional business (JPMS – 187), team deals with a variety of Controlling desks that control and report the entries P&I performs to the books and records in order to reconcile P&I breaks.

Most of them are located in Brooklyn and manage all range of fixed income products: ABS, CMO, MBS receiving funds from DTC (via different DTC participants IDs 187, 8867, 8871, 2668 among others) and FED.

On the Prime Broker business (JPMC – 352), team deals mainly with the MO desk based in Brooklyn (4 Chase Metrotech) that provide services mostly to JPM internal clients (021&102 accounts).

This desk is formed by 10 people lead by Monte Davis (ED) and have CMO, MBS and Private Placements payed by DTC & FED bonds under scope.

Team also interacts with Ref Data team vis OTM internal tool every time the analyst detects based on previous research that IMPACT system needs to be updated (interest rate/principal factor).

Also, we work along with Settlements teams located in DE & BA (depending on DTC participant and product) and a broad list of external brokers.

Skills Required

  • Excellent written and oral Communication Skills.

  • Advanced Level of written and oral English Skills (used on daily basis).

  • Client/Customer focus. Prioritize workload and be able to address Stakeholders inquiries in a prompt and accurate manner.

  • Able to deal with deadlines to meet the daily Cut Offs.

  • Able to quickly adapt to different scenarios as per the internal client requirements and potential Industry changes.

  • Problem solving. Able to find solutions related to escalations.

  • Ownership. Able to seek for solutions and resolve issues proactively and with independence.
