Job Description:
Overview: The Specialist/Senior Specialist, Public Relations supports the planning and execution of internal and external corporate communications initiatives that advance Abiomed’s Heart Recovery mission and sustain its Patients First culture. This role contributes to strengthening corporate reputation, supporting sustainable business growth, and promoting meaningful engagement with patients, communities, and stakeholders in Japan.
The position works closely with cross‑functional internal teams, external partners, and the global communications team, and plays an active role in both communications and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
Responsibilities:

Support the Associate Director of Public Relations and collaborate with the global communications team on overarching corporate communications strategies, including the development and localization of core content and programs for the Japanese market.

Plan and execute communications strategies and implementation tactics aligned with global and local priorities.

Communicate clearly and coordinate with cross‑functional team members, allocating responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Contribute to protecting and enhancing Abiomed’s corporate reputation and supporting continuous business growth.

Collaborate with the global communications team to support global communication initiatives and priorities.

Take initiative in internal and external communication activities, including all‑employee meetings, company website and intranet content, press releases, media interviews, and press events, in alignment with global communication strategies.

Build relationships with patients and support initiatives that enable them to share their heart recovery stories internally and externally, including patient advocacy programs and events.

Support and participate in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, such as community engagement initiatives, patient‑focused programs, employee volunteer activities, and projects that reflect Abiomed’s mission and values.

Requirements:
Experience in public relations and corporate communications is required, with exposure to public affairs, marketing, CSR, or related fields preferred.
Business‑fluent English and Japanese language skills (reading, writing, and speaking) are required, with particular emphasis on strong English communication skills.
Demonstrated strong sense of ownership and commitment to delivering results.
Proven interest in media relations, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and operate independently in a fast‑paced environment.
