Job Description:

De Puy Synthes is recruiting for a Sr. HR Manager, Suzhou, located in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as De Puy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of De Puy Synthes and your employment would be governed by De Puy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by De Puy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Overview:

The Sr. HR Manager, plays a key role in supporting business operations, strategy execution, and organizational effectiveness in the Suzhou site.

The role will actively support and coach business leaders and will also drive Talent Management, Organizational Design and Change Management. They will address complex organizational challenges by providing strong HR leadership in support of business goals, enterprise, and HR strategies.

This role plays a key part in translating regional and global strategy into local execution, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and sustainable growth. The position offers the opportunity to lead teams in a dynamic, highly regulated Med Tech environment and to make a direct impact on business outcomes and patient care across China and the broader Asia‑Pacific region. The role is expected to have an on-site presence 4-5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior leadership for Suzhou‑related operations and initiatives, ensuring alignment with regional and global De Puy Synthes strategies.

  • Drive operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people performance metrics.

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and HR to enable effective execution.

  • Lead and develop managers and teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and global regulatory and quality requirements applicable to Med Tech operations in China.

  • Identify operational risks and opportunities, driving mitigation plans and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor performance through data and analytics, escalating issues and driving timely corrective actions.

  • Represent Suzhou operations in regional forums and contribute insights to broader Asia‑Pacific decision‑making.

Where required to be managed locally:

  • Document handling: Print, stamp/seal, mail/ship, distribute, and route documents for wet signatures.

  • Records management: Store/archive/retrieve HR documents; fulfill requests; coordinate offsite storage; scan and name for Veeva.

  • Compliance/admin: Upload/submit filings; print and hand-deliver to agencies; support audits and onsite audit coordination.

Qualifications:

Education*:*

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business or Human Resources or a related field.

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Experience and Skills*:*

Required:

  • Typically 8–10 years of HR experience, ideally also supporting operations, manufacturing, supply chain, or site leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated experience leading managers and cross‑functional teams in complex environments.

  • Strong understanding of operational excellence, performance management, and continuous improvement principles.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead effectively in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and change‑management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as Med Tech, Pharma, or Healthcare.

  • Experience supporting China‑based manufacturing or operations, including familiarity with local regulatory and business environments.

  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience working within regional or global operating models.

  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and change‑management skills.

Other:

  • Language: Fluent English required; Mandarin Chinese proficiency strongly preferred.

  • Travel: Up to ~10%, primarily within China and Asia‑Pacific.
