Position Overview:

We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Assistant Communications Manager to join our APAC communications team. This role is designed for a future manager candidate interested in advancing their career in communications. The Assistant Communications Manager will be responsible for supporting both internal and external communications initiatives that engage employees, enhance our corporate reputation, and promote our employer brand. The position will primarily support 90% of the Japan business and 10% of the Korea business. The ideal candidate will possess strong logical thinking abilities, excellent multi-tasking skills, and exceptional writing and message development capabilities in both English and Japanese. This position will involve managing a public relations agency for media relations and a digital agency for digital communications, while also collaborating closely with both the APAC and global communications teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications: Assist in developing and executing internal communication strategies to engage and inform employees in Japan and Korea.
  • Coordinate and manage internal events that promote company culture and enhance employee engagement.
  • Craft engaging internal newsletters, announcements, and updates to ensure timely and effective communication across the organization.
  • External Communications:

Media Relations:

  • Manage relationships with public relations agencies to enhance media relations efforts for both the Japan and Korea markets.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and other communication materials to effectively convey company news and initiatives.
  • Monitor media coverage and report on key metrics, trends, and insights to inform communication strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key journalists and media outlets to secure positive coverage and enhance the company’s visibility in the market.

Digital Communications:

  • Collaborate with digital agencies to create and implement digital communication strategies that align with corporate objectives for the Japan and Korea businesses.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of engaging website content, ensuring it reflects the company’s brand and messaging.
  • Manage social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement to enhance the company’s online presence.
  • Analyze digital communication metrics and campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Marketing Communications (Mar Com): Manage corporate identity (CI) for sales tools, including case studies, brochures, and other promotional materials to ensure alignment with brand standards.
  • Support the development and execution of external events, including trade shows, conferences, and other industry gatherings, ensuring effective representation of the company.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create compelling messaging and materials that support business objectives.
  • Employer Branding: Collaborate with HR and recruitment teams to promote the company's employer brand through various communication channels.
  • Develop content that highlights company culture, values, and employee experiences to attract top talent.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the Communications Director and other team members to align communication strategies with overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with both APAC and global communications teams to ensure cohesive messaging and effective communication practices.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or related fields, preferably within a multinational company.
  • Exceptional writing and message development skills in both English and Japanese.
  • Strong logical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information and develop clear, concise messaging.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing PR agencies and digital communications agencies is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing corporate identity and creating sales tools such as case studies and brochures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • A desire to advance in a communications career and take on increased responsibilities in the future.
