Job Description:Division Description:

ITW Electronics Assembly Equipment (EAE) Division is made up of four brands strongly recognized by Contract Manufacturers and OEMs in the Electronics and Industrial Markets. The Division designs, develops, manufactures, and markets capital equipment primarily used in the assembly process of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and other industrial applications.

Position Purpose (general summary of this position):

This position will allow you to join an interdisciplinary development team and play a key role in the development and testing of new wave soldering products and technologies based on engineering needs. Responsibilities include providing technical advice to customers and team members on product/service aspects to meet customer requirements. This role also involves resolving complex application/system design problems and providing alternative solutions. Furthermore, this role requires assessing customer needs and developing proposals and presentations on how company products or services can meet those needs and how they can integrate with existing systems. This role may also involve mentoring, managing, and overseeing the work of other less experienced application engineers. The candidate should be an experienced engineer capable of working independently with minimal guidance and being perceived as a team leader. This role also involves evaluating technological developments and researching the feasibility of new technologies, resolving complex problems, and enhancing the company's application engineering capabilities.

Desired Skills:

  • BS in Engineering and 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Advanced understanding of the SMT manufacturing process.
  • Advanced understanding of all the typical equipment types used in an SMT line including Screen Printers, Dispensing, SPI, Placement, AOI, and Reflow equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge in all applications related to the wave soldering process.
  • Proven experience of quality control/workmanship standards as they apply to SMT manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of statistical tools used in the development and control of SMT manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to create Process Engineering test procedures and plans.
  • Basic competency in understanding all technical aspects (electrical, mechanical, software) of Electro-mechanical products.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, and proven ability to work well at all levels in the organization.

Essential Functions of the Job (responsibilities):

  • Manage and schedule process development work including conducting experiments and determining optimum operating parameters.
  • Conduct applications engineering training class for customers and other organizations and individuals.
  • Plan, schedule, and independently conduct the testing of complex hardware, software, new products, etc.
  • Provide onsite customer support on complex Process Engineering issues and/or new product installations.
  • Assist other engineering disciplines in learning the SMT manufacturing process.
  • Promote ITW EAE products and industry-leading expertise by writing technical papers for industry publications and advise customers on specific process development projects.
  • Continually advance the “state of the art” by remaining current on all new technology innovations (including our competitors) and perform the process development work to produce new applications and markets for our products.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and plans methods of approach and organizes means to achieve the solution of complex technical problems.
  • Specifies equipment, materials and supplies required for completion and implementation of technical projects.
  • Provide formal periodic updates to senior management and other key Research & Development personnel.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Working conditions involve seated computer work and occasional operation and work on company equipment/products. requires 50% seating, 20% standing, 10% bending, 10% walking and 10% light lifting to twenty-five pounds. Travel up to 10%. A valid passport is required.

Compensation Information:

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. The range for this position is :$82,000 – $102,000 (annually).
