This position is within ITW’s Zip-Pak division. Zip-Pak is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine Preventive Maintenance and inspection on manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical and Pneumatic issues with Extrusion Molding machinery
  • Ability to read electrical, mechanical and pneumatics schematics
  • Perform repairs and replacement of faulty components to keep machine operating efficiently
  • Must be able to document work request, work orders, and machinery failures for machines and equipment using computer maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Must be able to Utilize electrical measuring instruments to solve electrical issues
  • Possess the knowledge and understanding of Industrial electrical wiring and 3 phase systems up to 480 Volts
  • Possess the knowledge and understanding of process controls
  • Knowledgeable of A/C and D/C motors and controls
  • Understands PLC process controls
  • Maintains chiller system, plant air supply system, maintain resin delivery system
  • Knowledgeable in operating machine shop equipment:
  • Milling machines, Lathes, Welding
  • Surface Grinders
  • Drill press
  • Band saw

Position Requirements: Formal Education & Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in maintenance related fields is preferred
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
  • Experience with PLCs and other manufacturing control system is an advantage

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of Extrusion Molding machines and its functions are preferred
  • 3 years of industrial manufacturing experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Bend, turn and lift while performing the job
  • Climb stairs
  • Work on scissor lift at heights of 20 feet
  • Stand for 8 hours, with appropriate break-times
  • Ability to work around hot items

Safety

  • Possess the knowledge of lock out, tag out (LOTO)
  • Use the correct personal protected equipment (PPE) while performing maintenance tasks
  • Participate in safety training programs and follow safe work practices at all times
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly by filling out safety catch forms and turn in to supervisor

Compensation Information:

The hourly range for a Maintenance Technician is $28.50 to $35.00/hr. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area. The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
