Google Pay is one of the top UPI products in India and has been instrumental in transforming the fin-tech landscape and everyday digital payments experience for millions of people across the country. Operating in a fluid fin-tech ecosystem, the Consumer Payments team is leading the charge. We are exploring experiences and interactions with digital payments and money, come join us!
This is an opportunity for an UX/Product Experience Researcher, passionate and excited about building digital payment experiences for India. As a UX Researcher (UXR) on the Google Pay India Consumer team, you will operate with ownership and accountability to own a part of the research charter to inform and shape AI-focused feature experiences.
You will translate context understanding into experiences and directly shape new, AI-powered product features that extend the value and experience of digital payments for Consumers using GPay. You will be instrumental in driving human-centered strategy across the product life-cycle. You will have the opportunity to conduct applied research focusing on creating product experiences. You will work on agile AI-focused exploratory features and shape applications with AI technology in the payment space.
Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
Responsibilities

Own and drive research road maps with multi-phase projects. Design and conduct research (foundational, generative, evaluative) to define new opportunities and influence strategy across the product cycle.

Lead research activities in a fluid environment with mixed methods to inspire and partner with cross functional teams to co-define product direction, navigate ambiguity of early stage product development (0-1) while fostering a collaborative culture to maintain momentum.

Apply a mixed-methods approach by selecting and applying ethnographic field studies, diary studies, contextual inquiries, usability testing, field studies with an understanding of these methods.

Synthesize insights, recommendations through narratives, design principles, and frameworks and communicate to the audiences to influence design and product decisions. Be involved in bringing a human centered point-of-view to the team.

Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
-
6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product) or similar.
Preferred qualifications
-
Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.

Experience with research design applying qualitative research methods including usability, surveys, contextual inquiry, research through design and understanding of different methods along with the ability to discern and adapt based on product phases.

Experience working in 0-1 setting, launching new, products from the ground up and managing challenges through research.

Experience in the generative AI space to shape product opportunities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively engaging with cross-functional teams.
