As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a Controls Lead, you will join our data center construction team on the delivery of projects. In this role, you'll manage various aspects of the controls scope for data center projects, from initial concept and design through to construction and deployment. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring projects stay on track and within budget, meeting our high standards for quality and efficiency. You will be passionate about controls and construction to gain valuable experience in a fast-moving, innovative environment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to data center (DC) services and operations teams to provide feedback and assist in defining control system design requirements for multiple and simultaneous DC projects.

  • Collaborate with engineering core teams to develop, implement, and manage the data center designs at site starting from basis of design (BOD) to issued for construction data center services documents for new DC projects build outs, infrastructure upgrades, and renovations.

  • Participate in new technology insertions through collaboration with the core engineering team to provide site specific requirements during the development of site specific BOD.

  • Own and manage all site level controls system issues during the project execution phase. Maintain all DC related control system design requirements and interface documents.

  • Support the commissioning team in development of documentation and testing procedures for each project.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program or technical project management.

  • 5 years of experience in a design-build environment for mission critical facilities.

  • 5 years of experience in design, operation, and commissioning of control systems as they interface with electrical and mechanical system.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience managing quality assurance, quality control, and commissioning programs.

  • Experience with data center equipment/environments (switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, etc.) and an understanding of start-up/commissioning processes.

  • Knowledge of large-scale mission critical facility’s electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.

  • Knowledge of inductive automation and the ignition platform.

  • Knowledge of key control systems and their programming and operation, including Rockwell automation building control systems, PLC programming and automation, Schneider Electric Power SCADA, etc.

  • Knowledge of electrical protection and control using IEC 61850 protocol.
