About the job
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
In this role, you will own and drive projects for the EMEA global network acquisition (GNA) planning team. This position is investigative, involving data-driven analysis to develop overall network topology plans, compiling technical requirements for network assets such as fibre and leased wavelengths in order to meet forecast demand, while complying with network architecture guidelines. You will optimize Google’s production network for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency while maintaining the ability to meet new product rollout in a timely manner. This will be accomplished through close cross-functional collaboration and teamwork with strategic partners, varying TPg Ms and network engineers across multiple teams.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

-
Lead EMEA network planning activities for asset/infrastructure planning to support product area demand forecasts over time.
-
Project manage end-to-end repeatable, transparent and quarterly planning pipelines.
-
Analyse, understand and rationalize demand forecasts for all EMEA related flows.
Translate these demand forecasts into regional capacity plans over time, taking into account market trends and technology changes to ensure the most optimized and cost effective network solution, translating this to asset/infrastructure requirements.
-
Own and deliver in-depth technical risk assessments based on various what-if analysis to ensure the best technical solution is planned for across the network.
-
Drive EMEA network delivery by communicating with business owners, technical teams, partners, and deployment partners to align capacity requirements, execute cost-effective infrastructure initiatives, and streamline automated delivery processes.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
-
2 years of experience in program management.
-
Experience in network architecture, design and infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications
-
Experience in the networking area with delivering infrastructure assets and vendor management.
-
Knowledge of IP networking with an understanding of OSP/ISP and optical design.
-
Ability to learn and balance business and technical understanding to drive the long-term objectives of the organization.
-
Ability to navigate ambiguity, display flexibility and adaptability to adjust plans and strategies as new information is gained or as project conditions change.
-
Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to adopt data-driven, investigative approach towards solving issues.
