As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.
As a Manager for the Policy Communications Team, you will help communicate our regulatory strategy and help differentiate our approach from particpants’. This is an opportunity for you to strategize and shape a program at a global level, working with executives across government affairs, product, sales, partnerships, and more. You’ll work with our agencies in landing strategic media coverage, as well as with journalists and influencers in San Francisco, Seattle, New York, and Washington, D.C. You’ll draft content, plan campaigns and attend events.
It's our job to help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. To succeed here, you'll combine creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers and commentators, or producing internal communications and events for our employees. Things happen quickly at Google and to get stuff done here you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally and isn't hesitant to take risks or try new things.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$248,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

Build and sustain communications programs for our differentiated regulatory positions that can scale with the business globally.

Develop strategies and own day-to-day execution of public relations with business and tech press, analysts, and other influencers about our differentiated approach.

Manage ongoing executive communications opportunities, including media briefings, speaking engagements, and more.

Manage agencies and other third-party firms with specific deliverables, including outreach plans, research projects, and more.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
-
10 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.

Experience working with regulatory issues.
Preferred qualifications
-
Experience driving policy-focused media campaigns and shaping coverage.

Experience planning and executing integrated and scalable media campaigns.

Experience maintaining an established network of relevant media contacts, including new media, and fluency in the current media/social landscape.

Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into simple, clear and intuitive communications.
