Electronics Hardware Lab Generalist, Quantum AI
About the job
In this role, you will contribute to Google Quantum AI’s efforts to build electronics to support our quantum computing effort. You will assist in debug and design processes by performing rework of surface mount components. You will help deliver systems to the greater team by participating in assembly efforts. You will provide critical support to our partnerships with external vendors, and assist with testing electronic modules.
The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $82,500-$115,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

Perform rework of electronic assemblies.

Perform assembly of electronic systems.
-
Manage builds at external vendors.
-
Perform component ordering as needed to support builds of electronics systems.

Assist with testing of electronic systems.
Minimum qualifications
-
Associate's degree, trade school certification, other verifiable training in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

1 year of experience with soldering of SMT components.

Experience in Google Sheets/Docs or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications
-
Experience conducting established tests using standard electrical test equipment and documenting test results.

Experience reworking a wide-variety of SMT components using standard tools (microscope, soldering iron with solder paste, oven, heat gun, hot plate, etc.).

Experience assembling electronic systems from parts.

Experience working with Bo Ms, component vendors, and assembling part kits.
