Manufacturing Engineer Lead Blocks at General Motors

Job Description The Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the development of Manufacturing Processes, Continuous Improvement and Troubleshooting in the assigned work area. The work is of a technical nature where a high level of independent judgment is used and a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised in order to make decisions. You will lead and direct a small size group of employees engaged in specialized and/or varied engineering tasks.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

• Responsible for managing a team of engineers, supporting them across all three shifts in the department.
• Lead Engineering Team daily activity
• Process planning / implementing process changes
• Lead Automation Projects in assigned area
• Continuous improvement – Improve SPQRCE
• Responsible for layout planning and organization
• Specify equipment, gauging and tooling and co-ordinate procurement
• Production support – Interact with manufacturing group and provide technical support where needed
• New product / product change implementation – coordinate with Product Engineering and Launch Team
• Perform other ad hoc duties & responsibilities as necessary

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

• Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering execution experience
• 2+ years of factory focus engineering experience
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers
• Ability to work within a team environment and automatously
• High level of problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
• Oral and written communications skills.
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Thorough knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledgeable of high/low voltage equipment/machinery.
• Ability to work off-shift or weekends as needed

• Previous direct leadership experience in a technical or engineering environment
