JOB OVERVIEW

This role is central to the support and evolution of the Canada Trade application (Nexus) and its associated reporting capabilities for the Canada Sales business.

As a D&T Analyst II – Commercial Capabilities – Canada Trade, you will work closely with the Sr. D&T Analyst, Canada Sales, Sales Finance, and other business teams, as well as D&T delivery teams. You will support the run, operate, and transform agenda for the Canada Trade (Nexus) ecosystem by:

  • Understanding business processes and trade promotion use cases

  • Translating them into clear functional requirements and user stories

  • Supporting incident resolution and enhancements across the Nexus application and its data & reporting layer

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, solid data and SQL capabilities, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, agile environment. The individual should be able to work independently on defined workstreams and collaborate effectively with senior team members on larger enterprise initiatives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES1. Application Support & Operations (Run & Operate)

  • Serve as one of the primary D&T contacts for day-to-day support, operation, and minor enhancements of the Canada Trade (Nexus) application.

  • Triage and resolve application issues raised via Remedy within defined SLAs, including initial diagnosis, functional analysis, and coordination with technical teams until user confirmation and closure.

  • Monitor the operational stability and data integrity of Nexus by:

  • Reviewing system health dashboards (e.g., Datadog)

  • Monitoring and validating scheduled jobs in Tidal

  • Supporting regular checks and reconciliations across source and reporting layers

  • Document incidents, root causes, and permanent fixes, contributing to a strong knowledge base for the team.

  • Ensure all support and change activities follow SOX-compliant processes and documentation standards.

2. Requirements, Enhancements & Delivery Support (Transform)

  • Partner with Canada Sales, Sales Finance, and Sr. D&T Analyst to gather, clarify, and document business requirements for Nexus and related reporting solutions.

  • Translate business needs into user stories, use cases, and functional specifications in ADO (Azure DevOps) or equivalent tools.

  • Support the end-to-end enhancement lifecycle: requirement refinement, test case definition, UAT coordination, and deployment validation.

  • Support data and reporting requirements by working with Data Engineers and BI Developers to ensure well-defined, high-quality data sets are available to downstream reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, BOBJ).

  • Participate in design and review sessions, providing functional and data insights to help shape robust, scalable solutions.

3. Data & Reporting Consultation

  • Develop a strong understanding of Canada Trade domain processes (e.g., trade promotions, deductions, accruals, settlements) and related data flows across Nexus and downstream systems.

  • Use SQL (SQL Server/Big Query) to perform data analysis, root-cause investigations, and validation of business logic in datasets and reports.

  • Provide functional and basic technical consultation on data structures, metrics, and reporting logic to business stakeholders and D&T partners.

  • Contribute to data quality improvements by identifying recurring issues, proposing remediation steps, and supporting implementation.

4. Collaboration, Ways of Working & Documentation

  • Work in a cross-functional agile team including D&T Analysts, Data Engineers, BI Developers, and business stakeholders to deliver business value-driven projects.

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of:

  • Business process and system documentation

  • Functional specifications / user stories / scenarios

  • Support runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles

  • Provide clear and timely communication to stakeholders on issue status, risks, and progress of enhancements.

  • Demonstrate strong team collaboration, sharing knowledge with peers and supporting onboarding of new team members.

5. Continuous Improvement & Professional Growth

  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve system usability, and enhance data quality within the Canada Trade ecosystem.

  • Participate in retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives, sharing insights and suggestions.

  • Build capabilities in cloud (GCP), data tools, and Nexus domain to grow toward higher ownership and complexity in the role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education – Full time graduation from an accredited university (Mandatory- Note: This is the minimum education criteria which cannot be altered)
  • Education
  • Minimum Degree Requirements: Bachelors
  • Preferred Degree Requirements: Bachelors
  • Preferred Major Area of Study: Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience
  • Minimum years of related experience required: 3+ years in D&T / IT / Analytics or similar roles
  • Preferred years of related experience: 4-6 years
  • Experience as a Technical Business Analyst or D&T Analyst: 3+ years (requirements, functional design, issue analysis, testing support)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong data analysis and SQL skills (SQL Server or similar relational databases).

  • Experience working with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into functional specifications or user stories.

  • Exposure to trade / commercial / sales processes in any geography (e.g., trade promotions, discounts, pricing, claims) OR strong willingness and aptitude to learn this domain quickly.

  • Experience supporting applications and/or data/reporting solutions, including incident analysis, testing, and user support.

  • Good understanding of agile ways of working and familiarity with backlog tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to independently drive assigned work packages.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with both business and technical audiences.
