Job Description Summary

The Advanced Lead Engineer in Material Coatings will work in a highly skilled cross-functional team engaged in the advancement of aircraft coating systems. In this role, you will guide a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a set of development objectives via materials development programs and partnering with manufacturing on corresponding efforts with a focus on Thermal Barrier Coatings.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead development projects for the improvement and usage of materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materials
  • Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions
  • Create and manage project timelines
  • Create and execute test plans
  • Understand and apply technical requirements from specifications and engineering drawings that impact materials and processes and provide guidance to multidisciplinary teams
  • Evaluate, compare and obtain property data to guide material selection
  • Perform metallurgical and compositional evaluations
  • Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools
  • Document and communicate development results through technical reports and presentations 
  • Identify Materials and Process technology gaps and propose solutions for component durability or future designs
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry with a minimum of a minimum of 4 years of experience in Engineering and/or Science or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering and/or Science
  • 5 years’ experience leading material coating development programs through the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) process
