Job Description Summary

  • The Lead Manufacturing Specialist
  • Projects and Initiatives is responsible for driving operational excellence and producibility across programs, bridging strategic planning and operational execution. This role leads the Manufacturing Engineering Next Gen Products team operating rhythm, FLIGHT DECK adoption, and program management while ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability, suppliers and shops are production-ready, and cost, quality, and delivery targets are met. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a structured operating rhythm for strategic initiatives and functional processes, ensuring consistent progress and accountability of key metrics.

  • Drive adoption of GE Aerospace’s proprietary FLIGHT DECK operating model to improve organizational processes and practices.

  • Manage integrated schedules, align cross-functional teams, and ensure on-time, at-cost execution of commitments.

  • Lead EVM efforts, including maintaining baselines, tracking performance, and ensuring audit readiness, while translating contractual and financial requirements into actionable plans.

  • Act as a key interface with DoD customers, managing contractual obligations and fostering clear communication across stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to implement "Design for Producibility," ensuring manufacturing considerations are integrated early in the design cycle.

  • Provide detailed should-cost estimates for components, assemblies, and tooling to support cost-effective decision-making.

  • Proactively engage suppliers and internal shops to meet program metrics for cost, quality, and delivery.

  • Leverage expertise in conventional and nonconventional manufacturing processes to guide process development, supplier selection, and production ramp-up readiness.

  • Mature technology roadmaps, close MRL gaps, and drive process trials to ensure successful deployment at production.

  • Mentor less-experienced colleagues, lead projects with moderate risks, and foster collaboration across teams.Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university ( or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain Management.) + Minimum of 3 years of Engineering, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain Management.

  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, business operations, or supply chain.

  • U.S. citizenship required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.

  • Willingness to travel domestically 10–20% (as needed).

Desired Characteristics

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience with conventional machining, nonconventional machining (e.g., laser/ECM/EDM), fabrication, joining, and inspection.
  • Proficient in GD&T and inspection methods; ability to read and interpret part drawings.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Quality standards and special process certifications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
