Job Description Summary
The Shroud Welder / Area Leader performs welding operations on shroud components in support of Safety, Quality, and Production requirements. In addition to welding responsibilities, this role serves as the Area Leader for the Shrouds Line, providing daily operational leadership and supporting continuous improvement activities. This position supports ongoing manufacturing operations within the Shrouds Line.
Job Description
What you’ll do:
Welding & Production:
- Perform welding on shroud components following approved procedures and specifications
- Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions
- Ensure welds meet quality and inspection standards
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Support production schedules and throughput targets
Area Leadership & Daily Management:
- Serve as the Area Leader for the Shrouds Line, providing day-to-day leadership and coordination
- Run the L1 board daily during GEMBA, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people reviews
- Track, communicate, and escalate production issues, quality concerns, and safety risks
- Coordinate daily priorities with inspectors, engineers, and production team members
- Support adherence to standard work and promote accountability within the team
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
- Participate in and lead safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support problem-solving activities, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as welder in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, welding specifications, and work instructions
- Knowledge of welding safety practices and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to lead daily activities and communicate effectively on the shop floor

- High school or diploma degree
- Experience welding shroud blocks and/or similar components
- Welding certifications (as applicable)
- Experience in regulated or high-quality manufacturing environments
- Previous experience in a team lead or area leader role
