Help define the next generation of grid technology
As Product Owner for Multi-terminal HVDC Control & Protection, you play a leading role in shaping advanced control and protection solutions for a fast-evolving area of the energy industry. Your work helps enable more flexible, resilient, and connected power transmission systems that support the growth of renewable energy and the future of electrification.
This is an opportunity to influence emerging technology at an exciting stage of development. You combine technical leadership with product thinking to help create modular, scalable solutions for complex multi-terminal direct current systems.
What you will do
You lead the technical direction of control and protection products designed for multi-terminal high-voltage direct current systems.
You will:
- Develop a strong understanding of multi-terminal HVDC applications and the control and protection needs that support them
- Translate application needs into clear product requirements, architectures, concept designs, and technical specifications
- Shape modular control and protection solutions that can support a range of applications in both single-supplier and multi-supplier environments
- Lead the development of product features across converter station control and protection, switching station control and protection, and coordinated grid control
- Define and guide modelling and simulation activities that build application knowledge and support product development
- Contribute directly to technical design work while also mentoring and coordinating others across development teams
- Create detailed design inputs and test specifications that support robust and reliable product delivery
- Work closely with product, portfolio, and technical leadership to align product development with wider strategy
- Collaborate with engineering and development teams to turn product vision into practical, high-value solutions
What you bring
You bring deep technical knowledge in power systems and control and protection, along with the ability to turn complex application needs into structured, high-quality product development.
You are likely to have:
- Strong experience in power systems study, design, or application engineering
- Experience working with voltage-source converter HVDC technology and related control and protection systems
- The ability to define functional requirements, technical architecture, and detailed design for complex engineered products
- Experience using modelling, simulation, or analytical methods to support product and system development
- A structured and thoughtful approach to technical problem-solving
- The confidence to lead technically, influence others, and support colleagues as a mentor or coordinator
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work across specialist and cross-functional teams
It would also be helpful if you have some exposure to software development or operational software environments, though this is not essential.
Why this role matters
Multi-terminal HVDC is an important part of the future energy landscape. In this role, you help develop the control and protection products that make these systems possible. Your work supports more connected grids, better integration of renewable energy, and new ways to move electricity efficiently across regions and networks.
You will have the opportunity to make a visible contribution to technology that is both technically challenging and strategically important.
What you can expect
You can expect a role with real technical depth, international collaboration, and the opportunity to influence product development in a growing and innovative area. You will work alongside experienced experts and contribute to solutions with long-term impact on the future of power transmission.
Our hybrid working approach offers flexibility while supporting close collaboration across teams in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Finland.
Ready to help shape what comes next?
If you are motivated by advanced power system technology, product leadership, and the chance to build solutions for the future of energy, we would love to hear from you.
Apply today and help define the next generation of multi-terminal HVDC control and protection solutions.
