As a Senior Drive Unit Systems Engineer, you will deliver motor and drive unit electrical and software interface definition, define system functional requirements, and support test and validation of Ford ADVEV products. You will work cross-functionally with hardware and software engineering teams to ensure hardware and software feature maturity is fit for testing, and that testing is completed in time to support program milestones. You will ensure that the propulsion system meets feature attributes, performance, regulatory, safety, and drivability requirements.

Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
5+ years of experience in systems design, systems architecture, and powertrain systems integration.
Strong electrical and systems engineering fundamentals.
Working knowledge of systems development, vehicle architecture, powertrain technologies, software/hardware tool development, and motor calibration technologies.
A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechanical engineering.
3+ years of experience in electric powertrain system development and understanding of the intricacies of the system design.
3+ years of experience in integrating and calibrating powertrain control systems (e.g., e-motors, transmissions, engines, drivelines, etc.).
Experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
Proficiency in using testing tools and software (e.g., diagnostic tools, CANalyzer, Vspy, Vision, etc.)
Proficiency in fundamentals of vehicle architecture, embedded systems design, RTOSes and real-time networking.
Experience in designing and launching new embedded products (concept-to-production).
Vehicle track and performance testing experience.
Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, and electric motor controls.
An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $115,800-193,680., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $135,420-226,980.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

What you'll do...
Participate in architectural and software technical discussions and develop technical solutions while representing the powertrain system.
Define drive unit system functions and work with the hardware, software, architecture, safety and other cross-functional teams to deliver said functionality.
Support the integration efforts for various powertrain components such as the inverter, oil pumps, etc.
Coordinate with hardware teams to develop electrical device transmittals for various powertrain components and own the document through production.
Support the powertrain bring-up and EOL testing on all drive unit prototype units and be the point of contact between facilities and engineering teams for test operations.
Support the development of test-cases and verification of system level functions on multiple mediums (motor dyno, drive unit dynos, spin rigs, etc.).
Support cross-functional development efforts, identify and manage issues identified during development testing.
Report feature development progress and maturity at various program milestones.
