About the role

Job Description:

Product Designer (Fidelity Labs – Fidelity Private Shares)

The Role

At Fidelity Private Shares, we empower business innovators by simplifying the complex logistics of running a startup. We provide the tools that help founders easily raise funds from investors and reward employees with equity ownership, handling the heavy lifting of compliance and paperwork so they can focus on innovating. Join us in championing the entrepreneurs who are building the businesses that will shape our future.

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Drive Insights and Strategy

  • Leverage customer insights to form a strong point of view on product direction and design opportunities.

  • Lead research and discovery initiatives to fill knowledge gaps and inform decision-making when data is scarce.

  • Champion customer centricity across the organization, transforming cross-functional partners into advocates for the user.

  • Lead and Influence Outcomes

  • Align design solutions with core business needs, KPIs, and strategic outcomes to ensure measurable impact.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers to iteratively shape product strategy, balancing innovation with time and scope constraints.

  • Partner with engineering to deliver feasible implementation specs, review work in progress, and iterate based on technical feedback.

  • Continuously refine our design processes and tooling within the product and engineering pipelines to improve efficiency and broaden impact.

  • Elevate Design Craft

  • Serve as the design lead on medium-to-large projects, designing concepts from early sketches to polished visual mock ups.

  • Deliver final design mocks and detailed specifications to development teams to ensure high-quality execution.

  • Translate design solutions into clear product requirements that bridge the gap between user needs and technical implementation.

  • Facilitate key design sessions to incorporate feedback, generate alignment, and secure buy-in from leadership.

The Expertise and Skills you Bring

  • 6+ years of product design experience in a fast-moving environment, preferably within Fin Tech, HRTech, or Health Tech.

  • Proven SaaS experience, demonstrating the ability to support a live in-market product with iterative updates while simultaneously driving longer-term strategic initiatives.

  • Versatility across the design lifecycle, with the ability to move fluidly from rough sketches and concepts to complex prototypes and detailed UI handoffs.

  • Proficiency in modern design tools, specifically Figma and Miro, with a strong command of visual and verbal communication.

  • A strategic mindset with a bias for action, capable of leading exploratory meetings, facilitating idea generation, and driving alignment.

  • Deep familiarity with user research techniques and feedback loops to ensure solutions are grounded in real user needs.

  • A polished, compelling portfolio showcasing your ability to design complex workflows; please provide a link to your portfolio with your application.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent practical experience.

Note: Fidelity will not provide sponsorship for this position.

The Team

Situated in Fidelity Labs, we blend the fast-paced, innovative culture of a tech startup with the rock-solid foundation of a Fortune 500 company. We tackle ambitious challenges—like democratizing private markets—with the creative freedom to fail fast and iterate, all while leveraging Fidelity’s vast network, data, and financial strength. It is an environment designed for builders who want to move at startup speed but demand the impact and reach of an industry leader.

We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to drive customer and business outcomes during a critical and exciting period of growth for the team. In this role, you will thrive in ambiguous problem spaces, transforming complex financial concepts into straightforward, comfortable experiences for founders, their employees, legal counsel and other key users. You will own end-to-end success, focusing on measurable impact rather than just beautiful artifacts. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and customer success partners to define the path forward where one doesn't yet exist.

The base salary range for this position is $107,000-216,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.

We offer a wide range of benefits to meet your evolving needs and help you live your best life at work and at home. These benefits include comprehensive health care coverage and emotional well-being support, market-leading retirement, generous paid time off and parental leave, charitable giving employee match program, and educational assistance including student loan repayment, tuition reimbursement, and learning resources to develop your career. Note, the application window closes when the position is filled or unposted.

Please be advised that Fidelity’s business is governed by the provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940, ERISA, numerous state laws governing securities, investment and retirement-related financial activities and the rules and regulations of numerous self-regulatory organizations, including FINRA, among others. Those laws and regulations may restrict Fidelity from hiring and/or associating with individuals with certain Criminal Histories.
