Job Description – Manager Life sciences: Brand insights and strategy Level: Senior Team: Business Consulting - Life sciences sector team Role Summary We are seeking a Manager in Commercial Strategy with strong experience in developing strategic brand plans in alignment with cross-functional teams. This role involves close collaboration with global EY teams and client stakeholders to synthesize insights from multiple sources—such as competitive intelligence, primary market research, forecasting, and market access—to assess their impact on overall brand strategy, strategic imperatives, and critical success factors (CSFs). The ideal candidate should have: Proven experience in crafting strategic brand plans through cross‑functional alignment Strong oncology therapy area expertise with understanding of NCCN, ESMO treatment algorithms, key endpoints, impact of evidence generation activities on uptake, analysis of competitive threats etc., Demonstrated ability in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration Prior experience synthesizing insights from market research reports, primary research, and other inputs Key Responsibilities Build and update brand plans/ prepare disease area strategy decks Conduct deep-dive analyses into the therapy area and evaluate current and emerging therapies Understand impact of existing and pipeline therapies on uptake and market share Identify optimal product positioning within the treatment algorithm Develop new or refine existing strategic imperatives and determine CSFs needed to achieve them Engage with cross-functional partners to gather their priorities and assess their impact on overall brand strategy Summarize qualitative and quantitative primary market research and integrate insights into the brand plan Storyboarding and “so-what” analysis Translate data outputs into concise, actionable insights Develop impactful, client-ready presentations and deliver insights to client teams Conduct “so‑what” analyses to determine the implications of insights on brand strategy Client & Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with EY global teams to scope requirements and refine problem statements Present insights to internal stakeholders and external client teams Align on timelines, risks, deliverables, and quality standards Team Contribution Develop thought leaderships and PoVs Own workstreams, ensure adherence to timelines for projects Mentor senior consultants on quality checks, and storytelling Works with senior stakeholders to deliver timely and qualitative updates of project timelines, scope, and utilization of resource hours Required Skills & Experience Experience 8+ years of experience in pharma commercial strategy Experience working in brand strategy/ integrated insights for major markets Extensive experience in commercial strategy projects related to opportunity assessment, strategic and tactical brand plans, TPP research, and policy-shaping advisory and disease area strategy Strong verbal and written communication skills Extensive experience in oncology Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and hypothesis-driven thinking Ability to independently convert insights into clear business narratives Effective communication across time zones Attention to detail, quality mindset and ability to manage multiple projects Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's/ Master's degree in life sciences-related fields such as pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology from top-tier institutes An MBA (in Pharma/healthcare/general) is preferred but not mandatory What we look for We look for people who can develop and implement creative solutions to challenging problems and work well with teams to accomplish it.
