Exxon Mobil has a long history in China dating back to 1892 when its predecessor Standard Oil began marketing kerosene to light the Mei Foo lamps at Chinese homes. Today, Exxon Mobil’s business portfolio in China spans the full spectrum of the industry, from upstream to downstream, chemicals and technology center.

Exxon Mobil markets a variety of petrochemicals in China to meet the growing needs for a broad range of applications in packaging, automotive, industrial and consumer goods as well as hygiene and personal care products.

What role you will play in our team

Join us in helping grow our ProxximaTM polyolefin thermoset system business. We are now commercializing in China a range of resins that have been proven in field trials to outperform the conventional materials used in polymer composites and have the ability to replace metal for structural parts used in vehicles.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven ability to engage the Chinese automotive industry. Working with both the OEMs and their suppliers you will identify and manage development opportunities through to commercialization. You will typically have 10 years of experience in promoting thermoset composites to the automotive sector. Of particular relevance will be experience in EV battery boxes and hydrogen tanks, structural parts such as pillars and impact beams.

Positions are available at both the Exxon Mobil office in Shanghai and the office in Guangzhou. Working as part of the global team, strong English language skills are required.

What you will do

Develop an understanding of the broad regulatory environment and technology developments impacting the zero emissions powertrain (batteries/hydrogen tanks) in China

Identify co-development opportunities with OEM/suppliers and define the product needs

Manage development programs through technical qualification to negotiation and conclusion of sale

About you

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

- 7-10 years in the composites industry

- Track record of managing automotive projects in China
