The Programme Manager is responsible for the end-to-end coordination and execution of a multi-stream, distributed technical delivery programme. Operating under the direction of the Programme Director, the role ensures that all workstreams are planned, integrated, and delivered in line with contractual milestones, governance processes, quality controls, and financial expectations.
This role requires a strong technical delivery mindset, with the ability to understand dependencies across multiple engineering streams, manage client-side dependencies, and actively control delivery against forecasted man days and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Planning & Delivery Management:

Develop and maintain an integrated programme plan across all delivery phases.

Align workstreams into a single roadmap with clear milestones and acceptance criteria.

Coordinate day-to-day delivery, ensuring alignment of priorities, timelines, and outputs.

Continuously refine plans based on progress, risks, and changes.
Dependency & Stakeholder Management:
- Identify and manage dependencies across technical streams and client obligations.
- Coordinate sequencing across design, build, integration, and deployment activities.
- Ensure clear visibility of upstream/downstream impacts across teams.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to secure timely inputs, approvals, and integrations.
- Resolve or escalate dependency-related risks impacting delivery.
Financial & Resource Management:
- Manage delivery against budget, forecasts, and resource plans.
- Track effort, burn rates, and variances across teams.
- Maintain accurate forecasts and identify risks related to overruns or inefficiencies.
- Provide reporting and insights to support financial and commercial decisions.
Governance, Risk & Reporting
- Operate within programme governance frameworks and standards.
- Maintain RAID logs and ensure risks and issues are actively managed.
- Provide accurate reporting on progress, dependencies, risks, and financials.
- Prepare materials for governance forums and escalate critical issues where required.
Quality & Delivery Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to agreed processes, tools, and quality controls.
- Track milestone readiness against acceptance criteria (integration, testing, deployment).
- Identify and mitigate risks to successful delivery and acceptance.
Cross-Team Coordination
- Align delivery across distributed teams (on-site, nearshore, offshore).
- Facilitate cross-stream forums and ensure effective communication across time zones.
- Promote clear ownership, accountability, and consistent execution standards.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Programme Delivery:
- Strong experience managing complex technical programmes and integrated delivery plans.
- Ability to understand system architectures, integration points, and sequencing of work.
- Experience coordinating multiple engineering streams in distributed environments.
- Familiarity with milestone-based or contractual delivery models.
Dependency & Delivery Management:
- Proven ability to manage interdependent workstreams and resolve sequencing challenges.
- Strong understanding of how dependencies impact timelines, cost, and delivery outcomes.
- Experience operating in complex, fast-paced delivery environments.
Financial & Commercial Management:
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and burn rates.
- Ability to analyse effort trends, forecast completion, and mitigate cost risks.
- Comfortable supporting financial reporting and commercial decision-making.
Stakeholder & Client Management:
- Experience managing client-side dependencies (e.g. approvals, environments, third parties).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure timely contributions.
- Strong communication, coordination, and facilitation skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Governance & Reporting:
- Strong experience with RAID management and structured governance processes.
- Ability to provide clear, concise reporting on delivery, risks, and financials.
Domain Experience (Preferred)
- Experience in banking, payments, or financial services environments.
- Familiarity with payment processing, external integrations, and regulated delivery contexts.
